If you are looking for predictable commercial sameness in your vacation lodgings, a la Macon Leary in The Accidental Tourist, Z's Place is not for you. If on the other hand, you are looking for a comfy place that reflects the interests and values of the owner--one must think, an owner who once lived in this little place, Z's Place will be a delight. Her cupboards and refrigerator are stocked with wholesome food, including fruit from a nearby organic farm stashed in the freezer, grains and pastas, herbs and spices, and plenty of cooking utensils to prepare your own food. Every effort has been made to select household products, bed and bath linens, and furnishings that reflect a deep love and respect for the natural environment. The biggest plus for us was the excellent bed--firm, with a comfortable pillow top. A recently remodeled bathroom, WiFi, places to sit and read outside, a grill, and and plenty of information about hikes, things to do, and natural habitats in the area all were big pluses for us. This unit is on the lower level of a two-unit building, and even though the upper unit was occupied, we rarely heard people walking around or talking. Interestingly, Z has furnished the unit with a very good dehumidifier, as this unit is located in a woodsy setting near a little creek along the damp Oregon Coast. We were most comfortable! The only drawback was the lack of a microwave oven, but a nice toaster/convection oven compensated somewhat for this lack. For heating water, a stove-top kettle worked well. Z also checked in with us by text message, and let us know that this little unit was a work in progress! I highly recommend this little place!
