There is a tenant upstairs, please respect evenings and mornings and keep music, tv, and noise at a respectful level, as I have required of her. Well equipped kitchen and bathroom finished to high standard. But a bit damp.
LOCATION: In a quiet side street, just off highway 101. Easy to find. Short drive to amenities such as supermarket/gas. APARTMENT: Very well equipped kitchen with full size oven (but no microwave). Lots of ingredients and snacks. Comfortable bed for a good night’s sleep. Bathroom finished to a high standard. SERVICE: Pre-arrival communications were very detailed and helpful and it was easy to get in touch. It was easy to get into the house. There was a lot of information on the local area. WOULD I STAY AGAIN? Maybe not. The apartment felt a bit dark and damp. But it was very good value for money.

Peaceful relaxing spot
I came down to Port Orford to visit family and this place was perfect. It was just the right size for our needs. It's stocked with basic needs and the owner goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and at home. The area is quiet and relaxing. I will definitely return if she'll have me.

Quiet rural location.
Very quiet neighborhood and close to town. A bit of a musty smell though and kitchen could use some updating.

Thanks for your review. Yes, when a home is not aired out (closed up) on the Cool Wet Oregon coast this can happen. We keep an automatic heat on which sometimes get turned off and when I visit, if there is a smell, it is gone with this or a simple airing out. We thought about replacing the solid older wooden cabinets in the kitchen, since the rest of the home is updated yet couldn't justify it and waste since they look good, are decent, well made and built very sturdy. I'm glad you enjoyed the home and thanks for staying. Hope you come again. Have a great summer!

Charming, home-like setting tucked into quiet woods.
If you are looking for predictable commercial sameness in your vacation lodgings, a la Macon Leary in The Accidental Tourist, Z's Place is not for you. If on the other hand, you are looking for a comfy place that reflects the interests and values of the owner--one must think, an owner who once lived in this little place, Z's Place will be a delight. Her cupboards and refrigerator are stocked with wholesome food, including fruit from a nearby organic farm stashed in the freezer, grains and pastas, herbs and spices, and plenty of cooking utensils to prepare your own food. Every effort has been made to select household products, bed and bath linens, and furnishings that reflect a deep love and respect for the natural environment. The biggest plus for us was the excellent bed--firm, with a comfortable pillow top. A recently remodeled bathroom, WiFi, places to sit and read outside, a grill, and and plenty of information about hikes, things to do, and natural habitats in the area all were big pluses for us. This unit is on the lower level of a two-unit building, and even though the upper unit was occupied, we rarely heard people walking around or talking. Interestingly, Z has furnished the unit with a very good dehumidifier, as this unit is located in a woodsy setting near a little creek along the damp Oregon Coast. We were most comfortable! The only drawback was the lack of a microwave oven, but a nice toaster/convection oven compensated somewhat for this lack. For heating water, a stove-top kettle worked well. Z also checked in with us by text message, and let us know that this little unit was a work in progress! I highly recommend this little place!

Thank you so much for your kind words. You guys were great guests and the housekeeper was pleased after your departure. I am so glad you enjoyed the amenities....it is my home away from home and I like to outfit it with things I also use and think other might appreciate. So it is nice you appreciated it all! Thanks for choosing to stay at Z's Place and I hope you return soon. Zelda
