Sunrise at Penguin is a recently renovated holiday home facing North so you can watch the sun rise and sun set from throughout the house.
Situated in the garden belt of Penguin with a small idyllic and safe beach only 30 metres away.
Geographically central on the north west coast to visit Cradle Mountain, Tarkine Forests, historic Stanley, Hellyer Road Distillery and Leven Canyon.
Located on the Perry-Ling Flower Garden road between Ulverstone and Penguin, many guests are taken by our wonderful scenery and position to the town and beach and countryside.

Perfect Spot
Perfect location with great views. Warm welcome from Terry who was like meeting an old friend. The cottage was warm and comfortable with every travellers needs supplied. We would love to return one day, very reasonably priced.

A Gem in a Quaint Town
Stayed here for 3 nights - perfect location, lovely clean and comfortable house directly opposite the beach. Terry couldn’t have been more helpful and knowledgeable. We will definitely be recommending Sunrise at Penguin to other travellers.

Joanne & Matt we’re a pleasure to host at ‘Sunrise at Penguin’. These guests travelled from WA to witness Tasmania’s beauty and found Penguin to be a very central base to tour and sightsee from. This friendly, appreciative couple are most welcome to stay again if ever back in our region of Australia.

Great place to stay and tour around the region
Terry was a great host and met us when we reached the beach house. We even had a platter of fruits and port waiting for us! The accommodation was awesome as it’s just a stone’s throw away from the beach and walking distance to the supermarkets. It’s really like a home away from home. We requested for a change of towels in the middle of our 5 nights stay and Terry was so accommodating about it. There was no dryer after we machine washed our clothes in the laundry room but the drying rack that is enclosed at the back of the house did a wonderful job of drying our clothes naturally and efficiently. Cooking was a breeze as the rental home was fully equipped with cookware, utensils and all the cooking equipment necessary to whip up Chinese dishes. The only drawback was that the 6 of us had to share the bathroom so we had to set up a schedule for that. Lol. But the accommodation is a wonderful base to visit Latrobe, Burnie, Lillico, Don, Devonport and Cradle Mountain.

Jacqueline and her family were a pleasure to host at our holiday house in Penguin. Her Singapore family enjoyed the central location to many tourist locations especially the penguin viewing area at Lillico's Beach between Ulverstone and Devonport. We thank them all for the tidy state they left the house in and would love to see them again sometime in the future.

Exceptional accommodation with amazing beach views.
Tastefully renovated and appointed three bedroom accommodation situated directly opposite the beach.Terry and Fran were delightful hosts and their attention to detail was amazing providing a comfortable clean well furnished residence for our stay.

Wonderful to have Barry and his son stay with us for the weekend who were over for a 40 year reunion in the town. Particularly clean and tidy, it would be great to meet them again and have them share our hospitality.

We stayed for Targa Tas - 6 blokes. The owner kindly set up extra single beds
Very well appointed an comfortable. Would suit a family or group to stay a few day and enjoy exploring the region eg day trips to Cradle Mt or Stanley.

Wonderful to have these Targa guys stay at our premises during a difficult period in their racing - was great to see their spirit to succeed after a disappointing break down of their car. They all enjoyed the early morning sunshine on the front deck to share a coffee and left the house particularly tidy - most welcome to stay again.

Sunrise at Penguin has it all.
Excellent accommodation in a stunning location. Situated literally across the road from a lovely beach this excellent accommodation and home from home has it all. The accommodation is very clean, homely and has everything you could need including those little extras that takes the hassle out of self catering. There's outdoor seating looking out across the sea and also a large garden with bbq & seating area at the rear with plenty of off street parking. It's a very short stroll from local shops and facilities and convenient for driving along the coastal road or hitting the highway for sightseeing attractions, towns/cities and airports.

Alison, you and your family were a delight to meet, all the way from England for your son's wedding in Tasmania. Your 5 day stay enabled you to travel to the Stanley Nut and Cradle Mountain all a little over 60 minutes from Sunrise. You were wonderful bringing your elderly mother with you to experience life on the other side of the world and allowing her time to relax reading in the sunshine. Look forward to meeting you again one day.

Perfect position & everything you could need
From the moment we arrived it felt like home. Terry had suggested places for us to visit when we made our booking and checked up twice during our stay to see if there was anything that we needed. The view from the lounge is magic and was better than watching the TV! The kitchen and bathroom was the best stocked that we have ever encountered. The beds are very comfortable and everywhere is very clean.

Great place to chill out
Very clean, aesthetic decor and beach views. It was lovely to have a choice of quality teas and the complimentary port.

Elizabeth and her two sons were a delight to have as guests from a great area of NSW, Taree. The family loved the quiet location of Sunrise by the sea after visiting the rugged west of Tasmania at Arthur River. Always wonderful when guests leave the holiday home in the same neat condition as when they arrived - thank you for your kind words in the guestbook and hopefully see you again one day.

What a Gem! One of the nicest places we stayed in our 3 week trip to Tassie.
Unfortunately, we only had one night at Sunrise on our way back to Canberra. The house is beautifully appointed, plush, super clean and I wish we had a longer stay (2 weeks would be ideal)! Of our 3 week travels in Tassie, I rate Sunrise as the best place we stayed especially coming from a VERY expensive place at Cradle Mountain. The beds are so comfortable, the view is spectacular & the beach is 20 steps away. Terry & Fran, the owners, are so welcoming and generous with local information and supply a full book of places to visit, eat, relax and are always available if you need to contact them. We will be returning to stay and discover more of the North West coast of Tasmania. Sunrise at Penguin is a must!

Wonderful to meet you Lisa and so happy you both enjoyed your over night stay with us at Penguin before departing Tasmania on the Spirit boat from Devonport. I trust you have pleasant memories of your time at various locations in Tassie and we appreciate your friend recommending us for accommodation - enjoy the winter months in the snow fields of Cooma.

Wonderful home away from home!
Sunrise at Penguin was perfectly located when we took my elderly mum for an overnight stay. The photos don't lie - you can sit back in the lounge room and enjoy the beautiful ocean view. So close to the town of Penguin, mum easily managed the walk with her wheelie and we all enjoyed eating dinner on the deck, watching the world go by.
Hi spec finish and modern, light, breezy décor - a treat for all at a very affordable price.
Looking forward to a return visit with more family in July. I'm sure our son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren will enjoy staying at Sunrise at Penguin just as much as we did!

Am pleased you enjoyed the ocean views from the front deck plus was able to easily walk to town with your mum.
