Interaction with guests
As I am not always around guests are given instructions on how to access the cottage so they can let themselves in and make themselves at home. I like to come and say hello and welcome the guests. I like to check that guests are happy with the cottage and to see if there is anything they need. I am also very happy to given information and ideas of what to do and see in the area. However, I do appreciate it is your time away on holiday so I won't want to bother you during the rest of your stay although I am always happy to help you and given information if needed.

Barn Holiday Cottage is on a fruit farm in the tiny village of Rode, near Frome in Somerset. The location is ideal for travelling to such places as Bath, Lacock Village and Abbey, Longleat Safari Park, and Nunney Castle. Unfortunately I was snowed in for three days of the seven I was there, so was unable to do much in...

Management response:

Hi and thank you for your lovely review. It was really good to meet you and chat about Australia and where you've been travelling in the UK. I hope you continued to have a good holiday once you had left Somerset. Maybe see you again!

This was my second stay in The Barn and I enjoyed it even more than the first. Sarah kindly allowed me to bring a collie dog with me and we explored more of the farm and the village together than I did when I came by myself last time. As before, I find The Barn provides all that is needed...

Management response:

About the neighbourhood
Rode is a very pretty, stone built village dating back to the 1600s. It offers three pubs in walking distance, a bus service to Bath and Frome and a thriving Post Office and store. It is surrounded by pretty countryside with some lovely walks immediately on the doorstep including the long distance footpath, the MacMillan Way. The Wiltshire Cycle Way also passes through Rode taking cyclists routes along quieter roads and lanes.

Rode itself is also known for the infamous murder case back in Victorian England for which 'The Suspicions of Mr Whicher' was written.

Nearby towns include the very pretty, honey coloured Bradford on Avon with plenty of tea rooms, shops, restaurants/pubs and the Kennet and Avon canal passing through. The canal offers a glorious cycle ride all the way in...
