About the neighbourhood
Beadnell has a small shop, two very good pubs with excellent food (The Beadnell Towers and The Craster Arms), a church and a well-equipped children's playground. South of Beadnell is the huge sweep of Beadnell Bay with its golden sands stretching for over 2 miles. Wonderful for children and the young-at-heart. Part-way round the bay is the Long Nanny bird reserve with a large colony of nesting terns and plovers. The nearest small town is Seahouses, about 2 miles away, a bustling seaside resort with a range of shops, restaurants and amusements. Boat trips run regularly from Seahouses harbour to the Farne Islands in the summer. There are several golf courses nearby; the nearest at Seahouses is less than five minutes drive away whilst Bamburgh and Embleton are each about 15 or 20 minutes ...
Getting around
The easiest way to explore Northumberland is by car. You can travel by rain to Edinburgh for the day or Newcastle from Alnmouth station or Berwick.
