My third stay at The Bothy having been thwarted by covid last year! What a week it was, I had wall to wall sunshine and mid teens temperatures. Just perfect for walking the forest and the south coast. The accommodation didn't disappoint as always, lovely welcome pack and everything was spotless. This is easily the best holiday home I use and it is so convenient for Lyndhurst itself and accessing the forest. Only one glimpse of a deer in the garden this time despite some diligent watching at dawn and dusk!!
Do go down to Lymington and walk the sea wall towards Keyhaven etc, beautiful nature reserves with many wading birds etc. I also went to Exbury Gardens this time, slightly too early for the rhododendrons they are renowned for but the magnolias and camellias were beautiful. I walked it end to end and enjoyed the riverside bit and the beautiful lakes at that end.
I had a lovely walk at Puttles Bridge, the Brockenhurst side of Ornamental Drive, as well as going through Blackwell arboretum and into the forest for a circular walk earlier in the week.
As you exit The Bothy, on the left hand side, there is a bus shelter with regular buses to Southampton. £8.30 for an adult return or £8.50 for a day rider. I really enjoyed Southampton, a lovely mix of the old and new. Walked out to Town Quay and did the wall walk following the remains of the old wall. Plenty of shopping in the shopping centre as well as a Decathlon and Ikea adjacent to it.
Lymington is a lovely place to wander, plenty of places to eat and coffee down on the Quay. There is a modern Waitrose and a Marks and Spencer food hall at the top of town both of which are well stocked. From there you can easily access the coastal towns of Barton on Sea, Highcliffe etc which I did one day.
I can't recommend this holiday home enough and I hope if you choose it for your stay, you enjoy it as much as I do.

The Bothy
We stayed at The Bothy for a week this January, the plan was for a week of walking the New Forest and eating out in the evening.
We love Lyndhurst as it has everything we need including some pretty good restaurants.
The Bothy is a fantastic place to stay, perfect for a couple it's a lovely bungalow 50 yards from the New Forest. I would recommend this bungalow to anyone and we hope to return again and again.

Excellent
Lovely stay, would highly recommended to anyone thinking of going to New Forest.
Everything about the accommodation was excellent and the welcome pack much appreciated. If I could have rated it higher I would, I’ve stayed in many self catering places over the last 50 years and this was definitely in the top 3.

Wonderful stay
We stayed at The Bothy in Lyndhurst for the hottest 5 days this year! And yet the beautiful house was cool and comfortable as well as clean and nicely furnished. It was perfect for our needs - a home away from home to visit family 10 minutes away and have our own quiet space at the ends of days. The hosts were very thoughtful and provided all the information we could need plus a welcome collection of foods to help us settle in. The location could hardly be improved, on the end of the main shopping street and yet quiet and peaceful with splendid shared grounds in which to relax. We highly recommend The Bothy, and would stay there again without hesitation.

Home from Home
Wonderful place our third year visiting. Felt safe and secure staying here in these strange circumstances we are in. Was able to go for our daily walk across the road onto the open forest. We sat in the communal garden and watched the wildlife, first time I had seen a lesser spotted woodpecker. The Bothy has everything you need to have a perfect holiday. The day we left a deer was sat in the garden in the sun. Owners always provide estentials for your stay ,which is greatly appreciated.

A superb property - highly recommended
The location is perfect with shops a short walk away and country walks nearby. If you have a car, you can get to the heart of the New Forest or to various beaches for lovely walks fairly quickly. The property itself is amazing - beautifully furnished, spacious, immaculately clean and the owners kindly left us a handwritten card and a welcome pack of groceries and wine to enjoy on our stay. We would highly recommend this property and hope to stay there ourselves again one day!

Another great Christmas break at the Bothy.
We've spent several Christmas breaks at the Bothy and are never disappointed. A great location close to the Forest and a 3 minute walk to the centre of Lyndhurst with its good pubs and a variety of good restaurants.

A home from home in a stunning area
This was my second stay at The Bothy, last time was March 2017 and I arrived in the snow!! Despite a week that was a washout weather wise, I did manage to see lots of the Forest and the trees changing colour didn't disappoint. Christchurch was an easy 30 minute drive away followed by a walk at Hengistbury head.
Brokenhurst has an arboretum and tall trees walk nearby at the Rhinefield ornamental drive both of which are glorious to walk around. The fungi was simply amazing, never seen so many different varieties in such a condensed area, obviously perfect growing conditions. Over the crossroads onto the other part of the drive you will find the deer sanctuary with signed woodland walks.
Returning to a well equipped, comfortable, warm and quiet Bothy each day was a pleasure. It has everything you could possibly need, no passing traffic and unobtrusive neighbours. The welcome pack was amazing with wine, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, milk, bread etc. A 5 minute walk and you are straight into Lyndhurst with a variety of shops.
I'm hoping to return again soon. Thank you John and Stephanie.

Mr
We have just spent a week in the BOTHY, our aim was to walk out into the New Forest everyday and be able to walk out and eat every night. We managed it perfectly.
The Bothy is a perfect base, approx 100 yds from the forest and the same from Lyndhurst main street.
The Bothy itself only sleeps two people but is perfect for the weeks stay. Its clean, spacious and has everything needed to comfortable.
I would recommend this place to anyone.

Lyndhurst is recognised as the capital of the New Forest, having a good selection of restaurants & public houses, walking & cycling being popular ways of enjoying the area on paths away from traffic, with miles of country lanes offering driving pleasure.
The Bothy is set within a small quiet private estate, having over two acres of communal grounds, just a few minutes walk from the bustling high street.
Getting around
A car is an advantage, although not a necessity as a regular bus service runs from the high street, to Southampton, Brockenhurst & Lymington.
A wonderful open top tour bus, or rather three operate from Lyndhurst, Lymington, Brockenhurst and Burley during the summer months, enabling car free days.
