It is an ideal location for all types of outdoor activities - hill walking, water sports - lovely sandy beaches nearby - horse riding, golf and fishing. It is also perfect for a quiet secluded break as you can swim, row, fish or shrimp just by the cottage ....or simply sit outside watching the seals play on the rocks or the magically ever-changing light as the wind chases clouds across the mountains and sea. If you have your own boat, there is safe mooring in the little harbour and a slipway for launching beside the pier. - otherwise there are several local boatmen who will take you fishing, whale watching or even right out to the Skellig islands of 'Star Wars' fame. We also have a small rowing boat (& life jackets) for guests to use at their own risk. .When the sun sets over the Atlantic, you can nestle up by the open fire, guarded against the elements and listen to the cries of the curlews as you sip an Irish whiskey! The cottage has a spacious comfortable living room with open stone fireplace,TV/DVD and dining table for 6. The well appointed kitchen area has an electric cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher & microwave. There is a washing machine, tumble drier, sink and portable barbecue in the adjacent 'lean-to' Upstairs is the king-size double bedroom, a twin bedroom and bathroom with bath/electric shower, loo, hand basin and heated towel rail. There are electric wall heaters throughout the cottage . Electricity is included as is the WiFi - no password needed. A cot and highchair are available - although please note that small children will need constant supervision as the cottage is only 30 meters from the rocky shoreline. Babysitting can be arranged.

Directions from Cork (approximately 2 1/4 hour drive) Take the N22 Killarney Road, follow it until about 10 miles short of Killarney, where you turn left signed Kenmare. In Kenmare (a good place to stop for provisions is Lidl and/or Supervalu Supermarket), follow the signs to Waterville. Ten miles after driving through Sneem, you reach the small village of Castlecove....Then for Pier Cottage follow the road straight through Castlecove and after one mile turn directly left, after passing some derelict buildings on your left. Keep left for a quarter mile or so and you come to the harbour. Pier Cottage is the last cottage on the left before the pier.
