Garden Cottage is a lovingly restored 18th century stone cottage sleeping 5, nestled in the southern tip of the famous 'Ring of Kerry' near Caherdaniel. Although set in the grounds of Westcove House (see separate listing) it is totally secluded and private with lovely views over Westcove harbour, the Kenmare estuary, and mountains beyond.
This characterful cottage consists of a spacious living room open to the roof with a wood burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area with large patio doors that open south on to a stone terrace and small private garden overlooking the sea. The ground floor is tiled but has luxurious underfloor heating throughout and of course there is internet access - no password required. There is a double room and a single room downstairs, then a clever twin bed conversion upstairs, which has its own en-suite facilities. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, freezer, oven and hob, plus the sink. A private terrace and back garden look down...More

Bed linen and towels are provided as are electric blankets for all beds. There are wall heaters in the bedrooms and heated towel rails in shower rooms.Electricity is included throughout the year - Katharine Casey, our housekeeper, will explain how the underfloor heating works - please use as 'if it were your own' as electricity is very expensive in Ireland!. A starter pack of fuel is also included for the wood-burning stove. Katherine will also be happy to stock the kitchen with basic provisions, especially if you are arriving late. She also has a good selection of delicious home cooked freezer food available...perfect after a day touring, walking, golfing, fishing or shooting! Even though Garden Cottage is a popular annex to Westcove House and/or The Stables, and cannot usually be rented out on it's own during the High Seasons, it is sometimes available on its own and is ideal for short breaks – but usually only at less than 6 weeks notice – up to 3 nights at about 1/2 the weekly rate.

Horse riding for all ages and abilities on nearby Derrynane Dunes
Walks range from gentle strolls along the many sandy beaches (many of which are excellent for swimming) to more serious hikes over craggy hills.
Fishing: Salmon, trout and sea fishing can be arranged locally and guests can enjoy shrimping and rock fishing just below the house
- Watersports Centre at Derrynane beach, five miles away - sailing, water-skiing, canoeing, and windsurfing ...all ages catered for...
Six golf courses within one hour's drive, including the Championship course at Waterville which is only 20 minutes away
Eating Out: There are several excellent and varied restaurants around.
Getting around
There is no public transport in the area...the nearest train station is in Killarney - over one hour's drive away. Although there are taxis/minicabs..even private buses locally, happy to arrange tours for our visitors, we strongly recommend that you hire a self-drive car/cars at the airport for the duration of your stay, as there is so much to explore in this fascinating area.....details on our website and in folders on arrival

BY AIR: From London you can fly to CORK (Aer Lingus or Ryan Air) KERRY (Ryan Air from Stansted, Luton and Manchester) and hire a car. Several other UK airports also offer flights to Cork. BY SEA: There is a choice of sailings from the South West of England to Rosslare, on the south-eastern tip of Ireland:-STENALINE operate two daily 3½ hour crossings (all year) and two daily 1¾ hour high speed sailings (March -September) from Fishguard. IRISH FERRIES also operate twice daily crossings to Rosslare from Pembroke, which take 4 hours, but the driving time from London takes half an hour less than to Fishguard, (&their cabins are much more comfortable!)There is no public transport, so a car is essential.
