Sad, dirty, unmaintained and fairly grim!
We arrived at what should have been a lovely relaxing stay in a quirky place, sadly it didn't turn out the way we wanted. First impressions were that it was a little more rundown and unmaintained than the photos would have you believe however, we were going to make the best of it. The cleaner had just finished, we were assured by the owner, so we had a quick look around and settled in for the two night stay. We went for a walk, there was a great place to walk just across the road, then had a drink sitting in the little garden area. Sadly, once we were sitting there we saw how badly maintained everything was. The flower boxes around the edges were filled with very big weeds, which was a real shame! It could have been such a lovely sitting area. The two lovely cats that came to keep us company were lovely though! Sadly, they were the best thing about the place. We then went to the local pub for a meal, which was nice, and then returned to spend some time relaxing in the hot tub. The hot tub seemed clean so we got in. Sadly we didn't stay in it very long as the chemical smell was really strong and weird, especially when the bubble jets were on. It was warm is the best comment I can give. We went for a shower, sadly the bathroom is the furthest 'shed' from the hot tub. You are overlooked from the house while walking to it and definitely need shoes as the stone/gravel area is quite sharp to walk on. The bathroom had nowhere to put your shampoo etc. while in the shower. The absolute worst thing was the temperature, it was temperamental to say the least! The shower was either burning hot or freezing cold, the temperature control was so sensitive that any slight adjustment went from one temperature extreme to the other! Not really a pleasant experience. Getting out there is no floor mat apart from a door mat by the door making the floor wet. Because it is a wet room style area the floor really needed to be dry in the areas you walked on but sadly wasn't so we had to be careful not to slip over. We had a drink sitting in the little kitchen, which was clean but really needed a small wall cupboard rather than having all the utensils close to the floor under the sink. We sat with the cat for a while then went to bed. The bed is quite difficult to get on to as it is quite high off of the floor of the caravan, a small foldaway step would make it much easier! On pulling back the duvet the sheet underneath was grey in colour, stained and absolutely stank!! It smelt of stale sour sweat which was very unpleasant. It was also very wrinkled like someone had been sleeping in it making us think that maybe the bedding hadn't been changed - which is a particularly unpleasant thought. We pulled the duvet back across and decided to sleep on top of it as we were very tired, it was 11pm at this point. We laid on the bed and then really noticed that the pillow cases felt greasy and stank, as did the whole bed area. By that time we felt grimy just by being on it and the longer we lay there the worse the smell from the bedding got. We got out, packed our things and left and did not return!! We have very little time to spend together and rarely go away because of our responsibilities. My partner has also been unwell and this was supposed to be a relaxing time away from everything, sadly that wasn't what we got!! Tips for the owner: 1. Change the disgusting mattress and bedding for new ones. 2. Make sure that the bedding is definitely changed each time a new guest comes. 3. Change the bedding for something that looks really clean - there is a reason that hotels choose crisp white bedding! 4. Put a different rail on the bed so that it doesn't hurt every time you need to get on and off of it. 5. Put in a foldable step so that it is easier to get in and out of the bed. 6. Maintain the garden area. 7. Put a small cupboard above the sink in the kitchen for storing things, it is NOT hygienic to have all of the cutlery and utensils so close to the floor. 8. Put a mat in the bathroom. 9. Put an extra shelf in the shower area for people to put their shower gel etc. on. 10. Put a mat and maybe a small table in the hot tub 'shed' as the floor gets wet. 11. More fencing or planting is needed to make it more secluded and not visible when walking to the bathroom. 12. Sort out the water problem in the shower. 13. Give it a really good clean in every 'room'. 14. Get everything up to scratch and maintained. I could go on but I am sure you get the gist! I now understand why the owner has a 'super strict' no refund policy! This place could be a lovely quirky place to stay and maybe it was when it was first done but it certainly isn't now! I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone and will definitely not want to go back! The only reason it has one star on my review is that you cannot post without a rating because I would definitely not give it any!! A very sad, disappointed and angry guest.

Perfect place for unique weekend away
We loved staying in this quirky gypsy caravan for the weekend. The kitchen shepherd hut was really cute and well equipped. The shower was great in both power & water temperature (always important!) and the hot tub was awesome! The owners were super friendly & hospitable and did everything to ensure we had the perfect stay. Will definitely be back

Alan’s place is amazing. It has everything you could need with a full kitchen and clean modern bathroom. Great hot tub and lovely countryside location. The caravan is cozy and plenty of space altogether.

Fantastic and charming
My Wife and I stayed for 2 nights at this delightful and quirky place and loved every minute. From the fully equipped bathroom and kitchen either side of the gypsy caravan bedroom to the hut tub, made for a pleasant stay. Given fresh bread, milk and orange juice on arrival, the owner has thought of everything it seems and was very helpful. Great stay, highly recommended.

Little piece of heaven
We stayed here for my birthday, we were after relaxation at an affordable cost, with a bit of difference, and that is what we got if not more, the owners had fresh bread and eggs for us on arrival and despite not being able to arrive till 9pm they still came out to welcome us and show us around, we were even lucky enough to have 27 degree weather and able to visit the beach 40 mins away. amazing shower and kitchen facilities for such a small space and the hot tub is most definitely something we will miss. Absolutely will visit again soon and try the log cabin. thank you

Miss
We stayed for 2 nights at the Gypsy caravan and had an extremely comfortable and happy stay. Both shepherd huts are fully equipped with everything you need! The freshly baked bread was amazing... We will be back to visit with our family to take advantage of the log cabin next door!
