What a delightful place, hosted by a delightful couple.
I planned to spend 3 days, but didn't want to leave, so my pup and I spent another day and just relaxed and took in the natural beauty of this magnificent area.
The breakfasts served were among the best I ever had. Treat yourself and your pup to a trip to Alluring View. You'll absolutely love it.

Beautiful views
We were in the mountains for the Nature Photography weekend held at Grandfather Mountain. That in and of itself made for a great weekend but this was an added bonus. It was about 10 miles from Grandfather Mtn. but easily navigable and easy to find despite being "tucked" away! Beautiful sunset views out the back and sunset from a rocking chair on the front porch with a cup of coffee in the morning! Fantastic breakfast each morning to start your day off right. Highly recommend.

Awesome place to stay
We had wonderful rooms, mine especially as I got a really big room with a lot of windows to see mountain views from, loved my bed big, soft and comfy. Took my two Granddaughters, one is 9 yrs. old, other 17 yrs. old (cousins), they looved there room too. Older Granddaughter had a nice comfortable bed, and younger used trundle bed, she was quite content with it. Magnificent mountain views in just about every location on property. Al and Jill treated us very well, Al makes a great breakfast, when he realized the 9 yr. old is a picky eater, he cooked some things just for her, and Jill sat with us during breakfast and helped me navigate places I wanted to take my Granddaughters, even made phone calls for us. I liked the fire pit,and sitting at gazebo, it was so quiet, calming and peaceful. especially since I don't drive at night anymore. My granddaughters got good wi-fi, of course they had to change phones and tablet to the wi-fi available there. My laptop did very well with the wi-fi. Not very good cell service, but to be expected, The girls got the room with TV, small refrigerator, and microwave. Great to have frig as we took packed lunches and drinks each day. Had our own private bath, and girls room was directly across from me. Exceptionally nice, helpful owners, I'd recommend staying here for anyone who wants to "get away from it all".

Superb in every way
My two special needs cats were welcome to come with me, and the pet fee is less than it would have been to board them. This is a major plus.
The 2 room suite was spotless, the king sized bed extremely comfy. The views from the windows were lovely, and walking down to the fire pit to watch the sunset was truly amazing with a view of mountains to the horizon. With the windows open and the ceiling fan on the rooms were comfy. I did note a heater in each room for winter months, but you'll never find me in the mountains for winter. The water pressure in the shower was enough for my very long, very thick hair to get a good wash. I cannot say this of every place I have stayed. I also did not run out of hot water, which again is not always the case everywhere. The rooms were big enough for me to spread a bit and not feel cramped, even with two animal playpens (one for each cat). I even had a private entrance.
there is a small dorm fridge and a microwave in the suite. I used the fridge and it kept everything very cold. The little freezer actually froze water, too. I have been to places where this was definitely not the case. I did not use the microwave so I cannot comment on it.
Located close to Linville Falls and many other gorgeous destinations. My goal for my vacation was to view scenery and relax. This was perfect. I didn't have to drive far to find parks and trails to pass the day and then I could watch the most spectacular sunset ever.
I woke up to the smell of breakfast every morning. Best breakfast ever. Everything was so fluffy and flavorful, not greasy at all, and each morning was different. Breakfast had four or five different parts, apart from the coffee and biscuits and juice. All cooked right there, on the stove, no microwaving anything here! all fresh chopped and cooked, and plenty of it. I wasn't hungry again until the evening.
The owners are very kind people and answered any questions I had. They were pleasant morning company at breakfast.
ok, the wifi isn't great but, hey, you're in the mountains. When I think of good signal I do not think of mountains. In fact to me mountains, especially secluded areas, automatically means poor signal and who goes to the mountains to spend their time using wifi anyway? I could check email, that was good enough for me. They had Direct TV if you wanted to watch something. If you want stellar wifi signal go to a big fancy hotel, but then you won't have the wonderful secluded atmosphere and convenience to the beauty of the Blue Ridge, and you certainly won't have that amazing breakfast.
I never heard their dogs bark. In fact if I hadn't seen them walking the dogs I wouldn't have known they were even there, except that we talked about dogs.
I really did not want to leave, but alas reality can only be ignored for so long. I will be booking with them again for my next trip.

Not pet friendly
I made the mistake of booking a place that didn't have reviews. I had never used FlipKey.com before.
Pros:
The weather was lovely and the air was about 20 degrees cooler than where we live.
The pancakes were very good, but not the rest of the breakfast.
Cons:
The owners were not rude but they were not friendly.
The place is NOT pet friendly...maybe pet tolerant. (explained in a second.)
The advertisement for the place is not quiet accurate.
Explanation:
When I set out to book any vacation, I plan it around bringing my dog. I check the areas to see if their are pet friendly restaurants, attractions, etc. According to their site, they are pet friendly. When I emailed about the cost and availability, I said specifically that I was bringing a Chocolate Lab and was told there would be a pet fee. Fine. I expect a pet fee. When I showed up, the first words out of her mouth were "Oh, you brought your dog..." in a very awkward, put-out kind of manner. I found out later that she had no idea that I was bringing a dog..even though I specifically mentioned him and paid a pet deposit. She asked if he was male/female and literally grimaced when I said male. I was given a short tour and we unpacked. As far as a remember, no introductions were made at all. It was "Here is your room, here are the rules" and off she went. We were then given a list of rules. Dogs are required to be crated when indoors. When I emailed I was told that they were to be crated if we left them alone at the cabin, which we wouldn't do anyway. According to the rules, they have to be crated the whole time. I don't crate my dog. Crating isn't a bad thing, but my dog doesn't get crated. The rest of the rules were obvious things like - you are responsible for damages, etc. Fine...obviously that is expected. Any good dog owner should pick up after their pets and make sure that they are house trained and won't destroy the furniture.
Then, it proceeded to say that pets are not allowed to be on the furniture at all...so if your dog sleeps with you...look somewhere else. Also, if your dog barks it has to be placed IN THE CAR. The ironic thing about this is that her three dogs were barking at us whenever we went outside through the windows. Yet, my dog has to be placed out in the car? No. All of this was leaving me feel very awkward and uncomfortable. I was worried. I had already paid for a FOUR day vacation and not even 10 minutes in, I felt unwelcome. The cabin was old, which is to be expected, and the floors were warped. This meant that every move you made was very noisy. As the owners lived downstairs, I felt like I had to tiptoe around and found it very hard to relax. We decided that it was late, we were tired (I had come down with a cold the day before and just wanted to sleep.) so we would rest and then decide what to do in the morning.
The next morning, I went outside with my dog on a leash and she ended up being outside too. From the opposite side of the house, I shouted hello and waved. When she saw my dog she gasped, her eyes got wide, and she started trying to drag her dog back in the door. She then lectured me about keeping my dog away from her dog and keeping him on a leash. He was ON a leash. The dogs were not even in sniffing distance. If you are that afraid of a dog coming near you, DON'T LET DOGS COME TO YOUR ESTABLISHMENT! I put him inside, packed the car.
The "Three course breakfast from a three star chef" consisted of microwaved bacon, eggs, some salty potatoes and a biscuit. This was followed up by banana pancakes that were indeed delicious. The only good part was that the orange juice and the pancakes were good. I was expecting to be blown away because the reviews I found on OTHER websites all mentioned this amazing breakfast, even the bad reviews. The bacon was hard as a rock and the potatoes were overly salty. The "chef" is the owner of the bed and breakfast. Maybe he had a bad day, maybe on other days he is indeed a brilliant cook, but microwaved bacon from a three star chef? Really? The other problem is once again, the owners aren't very welcoming. I had heard them putting around the living area and went to ask if we could have our breakfast on the patio, partially for the nice air and partially so my dog could sit outside with us. The owner looked at me as if he had no idea someone was even in the house and then stared at me until I left.
We informed the guy that we were leaving and he just waved a hand and said we needed to talk to her. She asked why we were leaving and we told her that we were uncomfortable because our dog wasn't actually welcome. Her response was "Maybe you shouldn't have brought your dog."
If I had known about all the dog rules, I would've booked somewhere else. The problem is I emailed them and ASKED what the rules were and was only told that they had to be crated when left alone. It wasn't until we showed up that we found out dog really was not welcome.
Other disappointments - the "alluring views" are okay, but you can't really see them from inside the cabin. (Will attempt to post picture). There was one area that had a nice view but it was best seen from the fire pit. The room that boasted the best views had a wall of four windows...the only thing out those windows were houses and trees. No real view of the mountains.
If you are one of those people that has to have internet access, don't bother. It is reasonable to assume that there will be bad reception in the mountains, but their free wifi was very bad...which they admitted after we arrived. "Spotty at best" is how it was described in the list of rules. Which is fine, we didn't expect to get internet, so for us it wasn't an issue, BUT if you have to have access to your emails and other accounts, go somewhere else.
Overall, very bad and very unwelcoming. Do not recommend.

We have always been Pet Friendly, but we can see why more and more properties are not, and may have to change that one day. We have dogs of our own, and when guests bring dogs, we can have 5-6 dogs, so we have to have rules. There have been brawls between dogs in the past, so we try to avoid those. This is a log cabin with a lot of wood and carpet in some bedrooms, and everyone tells you their dog is well behaved and potty trained, but we have found out that is not always true. We insist on dogs being crated if left alone in the suites. No exceptions, if your dog is not in a crate, then you cannot leave it alone in the suite. The dogs are in a strange place and you never know what they will do, or what they will chew. We also let guests take their dog out separately, at least at first, so as to avoid any dog brawls. We don't think that is too much to ask for. This guest had a huge dog, hard to control, and I did not want to take mine out, while he was out. The guest did not like it, when I told her that. Sorry, but I would rather prevent than lament. Unfortunately, from now on we will not take large dogs like this one that was probably at least 100 lbs. And as problems arise, we will unfortunately have to keep adding rules. We also don't take all breeds, and people lie about what breed their dog is/has in it. As the saying goes, some ruin it for the rest.
One thing everyone has agreed upon for the 9 years we have been here is that this place has incredible views and exceptional food. It is too bad this guest could not appreciate either one, because both are truly wonderful. I will leave the quality of the views and breakfast for each guest to decide, and have no doubt they will agree with me. This location is unique, a flat mountain top with cascading mountain views in several directions.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
