The 'Library Room' is the ground floor bedroom of a unique B&B curated by a composer and artist couple who live in a large renovated church hall in the Rondout section of Kingston. Tucked into the back of a courtyard just up the street from restaurants, marinas, art galleries, boating, kayaking, and easy drives to hikes and swimming or skiing The Church Des Artistes served as home to our children as well as our music and art studios. The childrens bedrooms have been artfully transformed into unique Bed and Breakfast rooms. We are perfectly situated less than 20 minutes drive from Woodstock, Bard College, Rhinebeck, Rosendale, mountain lakes and waterfalls. Organic coffee and teas are included along with highspeed WIFI internet access. The home is filled with beautiful abstract expressionist paintings. 'The Library Retreat' is on the ground floor with its own private en suite bathroom. The room has a very comfy queen sized canopy bed, a single bed and a writing desk. With a 'turn of the century' decor adorned with antiques and paintings one is instantly transported to another time of elegance, beauty and simplicity. While we are generally working in our studios guests are welcome to come in for a tour. In addition to free coffee and tea we are happy to prepare a farm to table home cooked breakfast for ten dollars per guest. On nice days we serve breakfast in the garden and in inclement weather guests gather around the farm table in the kitchen. From a recent guest review: 'If all you want are clean white sheets, abundant towels, scrumptious breakfasts, coffee and tea, and a beautiful interior, you'll be satisfied. But on top of that Peter and Julie are exceptionally gracious and graceful hosts whose artistry infuses the entire place, and whose conversation is a kind of tonic. Hurray for them and you if you're lucky enough to stay here.' More

The B&B is in this amazing church space that has been restored by its owners, Peter and Julie. They are an artist and a musician and were a real pleasure to get to know -- , interesting, warm and friendly, but not obtrusive at all....More

About the neighbourhood
We are located near the top of the hill on Wurts Street in the quiet Rondout neighborhood of Kingston. A short stroll down our street takes you to shops, galleries, restaurants, museums and marinas. There is plenty of free on street parking in front of Church Des Artistes Guest House and arrangements can also be made to park in our courtyard behind our gates. While some guests come by train or bus for a quiet retreat others like to use us as a base for jaunts into the neighboring mountains for hiking, swimming, skiing and the like. We are perfectly situated between a number of attractions and less than 20 minutes from Bard, Woodstock, Rosendale, New Paltz, Rhinebeck and Saugerties.
