Clear directions for access to the house will be given about a week or so before your arrival. Located about 2 miles west from the plaza, it offers easy access to either end of town without having to go through the town center. Quiet rural setting in a mixed neighborhood of older Taos homes and upscale bed and breakfasts. Down the road is Hacienda Martinez, a museum of an old working Spanish farm. Also, Ranchos de Taos church is less than a 10 minute drive away.
It's about a 25 minute walk to the plaza or about 5 minutes by car and there are nice bike rides in the area also. Taos ski valley is a 35 minute drive.
The house is heated with a charming gas log stove. The thick adobe walls give passive cooling in the summer.
Home away from home. Great
little space, not cramped, that met or exceeded our needs. Cute adobe. Nicely situated off the beaten path. Communication was perfect. Would certainly revisit.

Relaxed Casita
Our 2nd stay here was great! Great small space with kitchen. We grilled out a few nights. Owner great to work with. Only change we would make is to get a new mattress and pillows. Bed was not as comfortable as 2 years ago when we stayed so needs to be replaced.

Potential, but needs some work
My wife and I stayed at this old adobe this summer. It was hot for Taos with several days in the 90's so staying cool was a priority. The following is a list of what I consider the pros and the cons:
Pros:
Over 100 year old adobe. Love the history.
Liked the old doors inside
Liked seeing goats next door
Liked the location away from town
Cons:
Had trouble with the front gate. Difficult to lock. Slider and catch do not line up.
Bug problem. Saw lots of ants, spiders, and other assorted bugs. Had a few
of them climb up on me while in chair and bed.
Windows hard to open in bedroom. We needed to open the windows at night due to warm weather. The windows would stick and I had to go outside and pull on them in order to get them open.
Bed mattress is very firm. We were not used to this, so it affected our sleep.
Most of these issues are easily corrected. Need to have someone spray for bugs regularly. The gate and window just need some TLC and minor adjustments to get them up to speed. I would suggest a mattress topper that people can use to soften up the mattress. Potential is here, but some work needed.

Yes, all important points that have been addressed. I just got a memory foam mattress topper for the bed. I have also treated the yard with an organic/nontoxic solution to deal with the ants, crickets and night crawlers but that will be safe for the honey bees... it has been a really bad year for bugs due to the drought. The windows and front gate are the last thing to be tended to. They should be in better order by this weekend.

This casita has the charm, peace and serenity of the land of enchantment. A perfect place to get the local feel of Taos.
The casita is like a home away from home. It is ideally located close to the plaza. It has all of the amenities for cooking and relaxing. The garden is an ideal spot to sit and watch the sunset. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the enchantment of Taos. Thank you Elizabeth!

Charming Casita in the Historic District of Taos
Casa Feliz is near the Martinez Hacienda and a short drive to local restaurants and attractions. The house is well-maintained and sparkling clean upon our arrival. It was a comfy place to return to after a day of adventures that Taos offers. We hope to stay there again next time we visit Taos.
