A private rural retreat located in the high desert forest of northern New Mexico, this beautiful abode is tucked away amongst old-growth juniper and piñon pines. If you like being in nature, but prefer not to rough it much, this place is for you. Ideal for families, this home has 3 BRs & 3 casitas, (little houses). There is a Studio, which is ideal for yoga or dance or workshops. We fill the Main House first, then the casitas, but regardless, there would not be any other guests on the property. If you love being in nature, long for a respite to reconnect and recharge, and also enjoy local arts and entertainment, this place is for you. If you love being in nature, long for a respite to reconnect and recharge, and also enjoy local arts and entertainment, this place is for you. The town, (village is more like it), consists of about 150 residents, a general store and a post office. And it's an easy 40 minutes to Taos or a nice day trip to Santa Fe. The property itself is 7 acres of forested wonderfulness plus 24 more acres with walking trails. The Main House is the 3 BR hub, and we fill that first. For groups larger than 4, you’ll have access to the 3 casitas depending on your number. (Either way, no one else would be on the property). Our kickin' green house yields veggies and herbs most of the year. We can recommend a number of incredible local cooks who can cater a special dinner or stay on site and provide all your meals. Other services such as massage, music, and yoga can be arranged in advance as well. This is an excellent getaway for groups, families, or individuals in search of peace and beauty. The large studio with a sprung dance floor is ideal for all sorts of retreats and group gatherings, but not suitable for parties. Please enquire for Studio pricing. Other exceptional things about the property are the 3 lovely walking trails as well as a propane fire pit out back. The three miles of dirt roads to the retreat are passable year-round and give the feeling that you are "out there". Although network television is non-existent and cell service is sketchy, there is fast 100 mbps fiberoptic WiFi at the Main House. A nice diverse library, plenty of board games, and a volleyball and a croquet set for outdoor fun make this a great place for R & R. If you'd like some off-site adventure, Taos is close, and Santa Fe is about an hour and a half away. Taos Ski Valley is one hour door-to-door and boasts world class skiing. Another gem, Ojo Caliente Spa & Mineral Springs is 25 minutes away. You can also visit ancient Indian cliff dwellings, hike in the mountains or on the mesa, go up in a hot-air balloon, or saddle-n-paddle in the Rio Grande Gorge National Monument. A day trip to Abiquiu, 45 minutes away, will take you to some amazing scenery as well as Georgia O'Keefe's house and Ghost Ranch. We love hosting small groups and families- for larger groups, retreats, and folks traveling with horses, please see my listing, "A Southwest Retreat in the Enchanted Forest of NM!" It includes this property plus the 2 neighboring properties. Either way, the fabulous location and homey, heavenly feeling of this sanctuary in the forest is beyond words! Hope to hear from you! :)
House Rules
Pets not allowedKid friendlyNo smoking
Sound travels shockingly far in this forest, so, please, no drones, ATVs, fireworks, firearms, or excessive outdoor noise. Outdoor quiet hours are from 8pm-8am. Also, please no candles! If you need to board a dog, I can recommend a great kennel just 2 miles down the road on your way in- absolutely no pets or emotional support animals are allowed anywhere on the property due to neighbors and wildlife. No shoes or food/drink in the Studio if you're renting it. It's $100/day extra. Thanks!

Ojo Caliente Spa and Mineral Springs is 25 minutes.
