Interaction with guests: This is a real Bed & Breakfast. The owner lives here and staff come daily. But, we are located in a very quiet and charming area. You can have as much or little interaction with us as you like. We are available to make recommendations, answer any questions, or shoot the breeze. But, we are also aware some guests like privacy and want more of a retreat-like experience. So, it is your call. Let us know if we can be of help.

Perfect place in historic seaside town
Exceptionally well maintained 1835 grand house in Fairhaven's historic district, amid Fairhaven's outstanding public buildings, restaurants and marinas. It is a five minute drive from the New Bedford to Nantucket / Martha's Vineyard fast ferries. Paul the owner was engaging, generously explained the history of the Delano Homestead, had excellent information for touring the surrounding area, and was immediately responsive to our requests. The house was quiet, our room quite comfortable, the shared areas elegant and the breakfast healthy and hearty.

A charming B&B not to be missed.
This is by far our favorite place to stay when we visit the gateway to the Cape. We only had time for a one night stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The owner Paul and his assistant go out of their way to make each stay special. We always feel like visiting family when we stay except they do all the work. This charming home is a perfect slice of history that his been kept in almost original condition. The breakfast side of the B&B is not to be believed. A wonderful presentation of fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, muffins and much more. This all served buffet style in the spacious kitchen and enjoyed in the family dinning room. This is perfect location for those who enjoy walking around enjoying the unique architecture and interesting shops and eateries. We will always return to this warm and friendly B&B.

Ideal location
We recently stayed at the Delano Homestead while visiting family in nearby Marion. Our visit was short, only two nights, but we enjoyed our stay very much. The house is located in a lovely section of Fairhaven, convenient to walking to the waterfront and enjoying the sites at nearby Fort Phoenix. Paul and Heidi were both extremely helpful in making us feel right at home. Breakfast was abundant and casual which suited us perfectly. We would definitely recommend this charming B&B to fellow travelers.

About the neighbourhood
The Delano Homestead is located on a quiet, side street right in the center of Fairhaven's historic, seaside village center. From the house, one can see the beautiful, Romanesque town hall, library, and Gothic-style Unitarian church. It is a few blocks walk to the bike path, working fishing piers, restaurants, and shopping. We are a mile or two from ferries that run to Martha's Vineyard and Cuttyhunk, the New Bedford Whaling Museum, the New Bedford Zoo and the National Historic Park. Take a ten minute ride to Fairhaven's mile-long town beach, and a twenty minute ride to Westport's 20-mile long Horseneck Beach. We are 20 mins from Cape Cod, 30 mins from Providence, RI and an hour from downtown Boston. We are a three-hour ride to NYC, depending on traffic. Fairhaven is the quintessential New England seaside town. The Fairhaven / New Bedford harbor is the biggest income producing harbor in all of the United States. There are nearly 500 active fishing boats working out of this harbor.
Getting around
Once you are here, you can walk to parks, restaurants and marinas. A car is recommended but not a must-have. Fairhaven Center has shopping, eateries, a bike path, churches, a beach and parks.
