We spent four days at the Chamberlain house and found it be an excellent and fascinating experience. The house is only minutes from downtown Bangor yet, sitting just across the river, is a quiet and restful oasis. The house itself is rich with history and...More

About the neighbourhood
Urban mostly late 19th century homes with some bungalows. Home sits back from Rt 9 and is fairly secluded. Mostly millennials and young families. A lot of bicyclists, folks walking their dogs seen from front porch. This home dates to early 1800s and was once the only home on a 100 acre lot joining Penobscot where Joshua's grandfather's ship was sunk by British in war of 1812. The carriage house preceded the automobiles and is also set back from road, so house and carriage house may be difficult to see at first.
