This is a stunning place. Look at the photos of the apartments on the official website, and that's exactly how they are...cosy, comfortable, clean and set in lovely surroundings with fruit trees around the estate. Gorgeous and beautiful!
What the photos can't tell you is the peace and tranquility this place has to offer you. And the owners are wonderful people. Truly wonderful, caring and trustworthy people. A very friendly Dutch couple who decided to make a new life in the exact centre of Portugal. You won't be disappointed staying here unless you are after a lively busier setting.
Although it only takes less than 2 hours to drive from Lisbon to here (with a straightforward journey), you are probably not just coming here for some peace, quietness and tranquility to stay in O Ninho do Rei. You are probably more likely to seek this destination to explore the beautiful nature and exotic places scattered around the area, with hills and mountains shielding the most gorgeous river beaches offering all kinds of watersports and activities, or indeed simply hiking or mountain biking around the place. No saltwater to wash off, but you can still enjoy sandy areas etc. Perfect!
I should conclude by noting that I am naturally a City person, enjoying the busy street life (minus the tourists if I could!) with all of the conveniences you usually have at your disposal. I had no idea or expectation that I would fall in love with this area, including Vila de Rei, Serta, and so on. But now I can say that I'm hooked. A Ninho do Rei is simply the icing on the cake.
