Tucked away in a country setting 20 minutes from Durango, this farmhouse provides the perfect space to hike, bike, fish, and enjoy time with family in the fresh air. Whether you're visiting to cast your line on Animas River, explore the iconic Mesa Verde, or ride the Durango Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad, all the best of Southwest Colorado is just minutes from this unique retreat! -- THE PROPERTY -- Master Bedroom: Queen Bed | Bedroom 2: Queen Bed Nestled in a canopy of cottonwoods, elms, and an old weeping willow, this 79-year-old farmhouse invites you to take in all that nature has to offer. The Southern Ute Indian reservation surrounds the property, preventing development for miles in the piñon and juniper forests, which provide a safe habitat for deer, elk, raccoons, and more. Bird watchers will be thrilled to stay here, with ravens, red-tail hawks, wild turkeys, Blue Heron, and Merlin falcons visiting the area often! The farmhouse is naturally cooled and shaded by the tall trees, making the interior and surrounding exterior of the home about 10 degrees cooler than if you were out in the open. Inside, the open floor plan features cozy furnishings, a comfortable living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and dining area so you can still enjoy home-cooked meals while away. Next to the dining table is another relaxation area, where you can read a book and sunbathe under the picture windows. You'll find yourself spending most of your time outside while you stay here! Mornings call for a cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast at the backyard patio table, while evenings are best spent sipping wine and stargazing with loved ones in the screened gazebo. After a long day exploring the area, enjoy a relaxing rinse in the shower/tub combo of the full bathroom before retreating to one of the 2 bedrooms; each featuring queen-sized beds with homey, colorful comforters. If you're traveling with more than 4, reach out about the trailer and teepee each available for an additional fee. It won't take long before you start calling this wonderful place your home-away-from-home! -- THE LOCATION -- With such a fantastic piece of land to explore, it’s hard to believe that there is even more to do beyond the property! This ideally-located home makes it easy to venture out to take part in all of the outdoor activities, like fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking on the Animas River, and four-wheel driving the remote mountain passes. Take the beautiful 20-minute drive along the Animas River to the town of Durango, home to dozens of attractions, including whitewater rafting, the famous Durango/Silverton steam-driven narrow gauge train, old-time entertainment like the Bar-D Wranglers, and an eclectic choice of fine restaurants. If you're up for a day trip, make the hour drive to the Quality Waters of the San Juan to fly-fish, or head over to this historic Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, and Canyon of the Ancients for educational visits. With so many places to explore around Durango and such a peaceful home base to return to at the end of each adventure, you’re sure to have an incredible time during your stay at this wonderful vacation rental house! -- THE EVOLVE DIFFERENCE -- Evolve Vacation Rental Network is on a mission to make vacation rental easy for guests. Every property in our network has been vetted and verified so you can book with confidence. If you have questions prior to your trip, we are happy to assist you 7 days a week.
