Our beautiful secluded valley surrounded by national forest, is a destination unto itself. This is a great place for your group retreat, family gathering or a great base camp from which to explore Yosemite. Kowana Valley Lodge is on 300 acres surrounded by forest just outside Yosemite. (We are a 40 min drive to the Highway 120 entrance gate). We have miles of trails, streams, swimming holes, even a cave you can explore! We have much history to offer; the site of the Yosemite Miwok winter village, and later a Gold Rush site, complete with grinding holes, old stone buildings, and remnants of the Coulterville Trail, the very first tourist route into Yosemite. We are off the grid - we make all our power from solar, this is a great learning opportunity for those interested in learning ...Our beautiful secluded valley surrounded by national forest, is a destination unto itself. This is a new modern house with most of the amenities you would expect. Bring your family dog (one room in the house allows dogs, plus the 300 acres to roam!), horses, we have a 5 stall barn, and lots of adventure for kids. The lodge is 2700 sq ft with plenty of sleeping for your large group. (3 queen beds, 3 double beds, 8 twin beds). There are 4 1/2 baths, a game room with ping pong, books, games, and lots of lounging space. Plus full guest kitchen. We hope you can join us for a long or short stay! Lynn More

About the neighbourhood
We are in the Stanislaus Forest, just bordering Yosemite National Park. We are a destination for families, groups, and Yosemite travelers. On site we have swimming holes, trails for hiking or horseback riding, and we are just a short drive to visit Yosemite. With 300 acres and no nearby neighbors, you can experience true solitude and relaxation. Your cell phone will not ring in our valley, and there is no internet to distract you from the beauty surrounding you. You can have a true vacation from it all! This site was a former Indian Village - winter home of the Yosemite Miwoks. Later came the Gold Rush miners - and the first trail into Yosemite that brought tourists, started on this site! Available are history tours of this historic site, tours of our off grid solar system, and inf...
