Built in 1741, five years before the battle of Culloden the cottage has recently been renovated and refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining many of the original features and character. Sleeping 5/ 6 Three bedrooms - The first main bedroom is a King sized double, the second bedroom is a twin room, the third smallest bedroom has a double bed best used for single occupant but can be used as a double. Z bed also available on request. Ancrum village is well located to tour the Borders and flavour the hospitality of the area. The Border towns of Jedburgh, Kelso, Melrose, Hawick and Galashiels are within 20 mins. drive. The Borders is steeped in history and proud traditions. There are many interesting places to visit, Abbotsford- home of Sir Walter Scott near Melrose, Floors Castle at Kelso, Bowhill near Selkirk, Mary Queen of Scots House and The Castle Jail in Jedburgh to name a few. The Borders is made for cycling. Quiet country lanes and open countryside between the Border towns and villages. The Scottish Borders are easily accessible by car with good motorway links. The nearest airports are at Edinburgh and Newcastle, both of which are well served with flights from within the UK and the rest of Europe. Nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed has excellent rail links, with Edinburgh and Newcastle just 40 minutes away and London Kings Cross to Berwick from 3.5 hours by train.
