Holiday Rental House
'Phoenix Rising' is one of the highest houses on the mountainside above the Boulders Beach, famous for a large colony of African Penguins, with awe inspiring sea views across False Bay. From the Aloe and Protea garden behind the house you can climb straight up Swartkop mountain along the ridge to Cape Point, one of the most spectacular hikes in the peninsular or wander along the contour path through the Fynbos (a floral kingdom unique to the Cape). A nature lovers delight. The ground floor of this large home is available, fully furnished, from 20th April to mid-September. Unlike most homes on a hillside you can drive right to the entrance and the house is all on one level throughout. Unlike most homes on a hillside you can drive right to the entrance and the house is all on one level throughout. Comprising a formal Entrance Hall; a spacious open-plan living area flowing out onto a covered, paved patio, allowing great indoor/outdoor living with amazing sea views. The large open-plan lounge (with a real fireplace) leads into a dining area with a work space under a beautiful half-moon window overlooking the awesome views. The fully equipped kitchen is spacious, flowing from the dining area - and out to the patio. There are two bedrooms - a spacious main bedroom has a large, with full en-suite bathroom including an exotic bath with sea view, leads out onto a lovely, secluded patio with outdoor shower next to the swimming pool. The main bedroom is linked to a second twin bedded room / study with nearby toilet and shower. All the rooms have the magnificent sea vistas. No light or sound pollution - No street lights and no traffic, and no stairs. Furnished with a collection of beautiful pieces of furniture, combined with eclectic decor, creating a distinctly unique and captivating character. Guest access Guests have the whole ground floor, and full use of all the extensive grounds and garden. We reserve the first floor for family use but will not be in residence from April to September 2018. Interaction with guests Our manager/dog sitter lives next door in an apartment over the garage. She is available if you need assistance but you have full privacy. Eco friendly - we don't waste any water: all grey water is recycled for watering the garden; we catch rain water from the mountainside and our roof for domestic use. Solar powered - all hot water is heated by solar, and with our average of 295 days a year of sun, you will never miss a hot bath. An unusual feature is the private open air Victorian hot tub straight onto the mountainside. Child Friendly - we welcome children but at your own risk, as there are numerous high walls and dangerous drops, so not ideal for unsteady toddlers. Pet friendly - We love animals and you can bring one small well behaved dog (no big dogs or undisciplined dogs please). Secure - Off-street parking behind electric gates, a night watchman, and state-of-the-art security system.More

The property is stunning and the 180-degree view of the ocean from our private terrace is unbeatable. Every day we watched whales and dolphins swim past us as well as the odd submarine from the old naval base which was rather exciting. There are some...More

About the neighbourhood
Simons Town is the jewel of the Cape Perninsular, a little Victorian town dating back to the 19th centruy when it was founded by Simon van der Stel as a good sheltered harbour for the navy during the winter. This means we have much milder winters (May - August) than other parts odf the Cape. In Summer we also have a refreshing south easter which keeps the intense heat down, although it can get tiring when it blows for days. It is known as the Cape Doctor as it brings beautiful fresh air from the Antarctic. Bouders Beache was rated in the top 50 beaches world wide for being a well managed eco-beach - for its pristine water and sea life. Where else can you literally swim with penguins?
Getting around
Uber is the best way to get here if you dont have a car - Only ZAR450 from the airport, and from our house to ZAR350 into cape town. However it is essential to have a car as we are at the top of a long road, and although there are local buses from the main road they are not up to tourist standard. The train into the city centre is only 4 kms away and can be an interesting jaunt, although not recommended as there are safety issues.
