Curlew Lodge is one of only eight fully-accessible, lakeside lodges on a small family-run holiday complex called Blagdon Farm in Devon. Curlew has a comfortable and practical living area with wide patio doors leading out to a south-facing private terrace overlooking magnificent views over our own coarse-fishing lake to the rolling Devon fields and woodland beyond. Curlew has a double bedroom with a king-sized bed and a twin room with two full-sized single beds - all beds are made with with crisp white Egyptian-cotton sheets. All our lodges have individually-controlled gas central heating, double glazing and they are fully-accessible featuring extra-wide doorways, grab rails, and lever taps. There is also a fully accessible wet room with a power shower. Each lodge has a private parking space immediately outside and a covered porch where guests can store bikes, surfboards, walking boots and mobility equipment. Each lodge has access to a washing line and there is a barbecue area. Blagdon Farm offers a range of on-site facilities to enhance your holiday, including: Free wifi throughout the site; indoor heated swimming pool with hoist and steps for ease of access (open from Easter until the end of October); 1.5 acre coarse fishing lake, stocked with carp (common, mirror and ghost), rudd, roach, perch and bream - there is a grass path, stoned underneath, leading gently down from the lodges to the lake which is approximately 50m away; Fishing shack selling bait and hiring out angling equipment; Games room with Xbox, book/DVD library, snooker, fussball and table tennis; and playing field & orchard/woodland walk. Some of our lodges accept dogs. Blagdon Farm is the perfect place from which to explore Devon and Cornwall and you'll be sure of a very warm welcome. Set in the heart of Ruby country (so called after the Ruby Red cattle farmed locally), Blagdon Farm is within an easy drive of the wide sandy North Cornwall beaches at Bude and Widemouth Bay, the stunning Cornish resorts of Boscastle and Padstow (home to Rick Stein's famous seafood restaurant), and the spectacular scenery of Dartmoor and Exmoor. The ancient port of Clovelly and historic Tintagel Castle are close by and the attractions of the Eden Project, the Tate St. Ives, and RHS Rosemoor Gardens are all within easy reach. The bright lights of Launceston, with its ancient castle, steam railway and bustling shopping centre, is just 10 miles away. Here you will find Tescos, a retail park and many local shops. The pretty market town of Holsworthy is just 5 miles away where you will find crafts, excellent local produce and there is a market every Wednesday. Established in the late 1990s, the accommodation at Blagdon Farm, previously rated at 4 and 5 stars with an Accessibility rating of M3A, was a South West Excellence Award Winner in 2007.More

Spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage. Lovely view to look at when sitting outside. So good to be able to go swimming on a hot day. Hosts could not have been more accommodating. Selection of beer on sale in Dippers bar excellent. We hope to return...More

Getting around
The lodge is located in rural Devon and is the perfect place to have a peaceful and restful holiday. The nearest train station is Okehampton (about 17 miles to the South East) and buses do run to Holsworthy and Launceston, but essentially, you will need a car to get about, although there are local taxis and car hire companies - both are reasonably priced. Most supermarkets are happy to deliver to our lodges, some guests order their food to arrive on the day they arrive and we are happy to supervise delivery as long as we are aware in advance and it comes after Midday.
