Beautiful pool surrounded by fence for peace of mind when holidaying with young children.
Living room - sink into a sofa with a glass of wine. Great open fireplace for colder months

kitchen has 5 burner gas hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, washing machine and dryer.
Eat on the sun trap stone terrace surrounded by flowers, fig and olive trees, and a vine.
Play badminton on the lawn, and in summer eat in the cool shade of the mature trees

Old stone farmhouse with lots of space inside and out, which has been tastefully restored to be both traditional and comfortable. The rooms are big with lots of light and the environment is child friendly. There's a sun-trap terrace on the South East side, and several large outdoor tables for dining al fresco. We have a bespoke stone barbecue, and a large children's sand pit on either side of the lawn where you can play family games such as Badminton or Boules. There is no other accommodation on site so you have privacy and sole use of the swimming pool which has views, is fenced with a lockable gate, and runs on a salt-water system which is much nicer for eyes and skin than old style chlorine pools. This is a large house near a quiet village. The rooms are spacious and cool in hot weather. Bathrooms and kitchen are of a very good standard. Everything, indoor and outdoor, that we could think of was supplied - including a brand new brick BBQ....More

The house is that it is pretty, light, comfortable and spacious. It is simply decorated with some antique furniture, and has the feel of a relaxed family home. The kitchen is huge with a long table specially made for it in the traditional style of the area. The kitchen has worktops made from a walnut tree from our property, a 5 burner gas hob and a large multi-function oven. The living room has two sofas, chairs, a piano, and a superb open fire which is lovely in the colder months of the year. It has double doors which open onto the large terrace. All bedrooms are large and comfortable. There is one double bedroom downstairs, with an en-suite bathroom, and the others are upstairs. The house has 2 staircases which makes it great fun to play games in!

About the neighbourhood
From our meadow you can see the Donjon at Bazoges en Pareds 3kms away. It is a lovely medieval remnant with medieval garden and local life museum attached. The Auberge next door is a good local restaurant, and there are small shops and other amenities in the village. There are lots of walks marked out in the woods between us and La Caillere, and cycle routes too. Fontenay le Comte, 25 mins away, is the old capital of the area and has a traditional market on Saturdays. Nearby is the ancient Mervent-Vouvant forest which is lovely for walks, horseriding (at Ripauds stables near Vouvant) and there is also a great tree top adventure park in the forest near Mervent. Vouvant itself is well worth visiting - a very pretty town on a bend in the river with a tower supposedly built by the fairy Melusi... more
