I had a fabulous time exploring the natural desert setting at the guesthouse, situated on 10 acres. It was far enough off the beaten path that I could sit and watch the birds and animals, but close enough to town to enjoy the city amenities, too. When I wasn't marveling at a 300-year-old saguaro cactus while enjoying the perfume of the gardenia by the patio, I was watching roadrunners and jackrabbits race through the yard. The guesthouse is so comfortable and wonderfully appointed, and the owners so gracious and hospitable, I really didn't want to leave. The gated access off a dirt road might not suit everyone, but for me, this was the perfect desert experience.
