Grapevine Cottage is a charismatic home with real bucolic charm. It is set in a shady vineyard just a short walk down a quiet lane from the centre of ISLAMLAR village but only 8 km from Kalkan and other tourist attractions. The lane has now been fixed and is no longer bumpy!! It has been decorated in a natural, old fashioned Turkish style with colourful kilims and textiles and original art work a feature. The two bedrooms are situated downstairs where it is cooler in summer. One bedroom is made entirely from wood and the other within the original stone building with thick stone walls. . Both bedrooms open out onto their own private patio space. The garden is a cool haven with its own small brook running past the front door. At night it is pleasant to go to sleep to the sound of running...Grapevine Cottage is a charismatic home with real bucolic charm. At night it is pleasant to go to sleep to the sound of running water. The spacious living room and well equipped country kitchen are upstairs taking full advantage of the panoramic views both of the sea and mountains. The upstairs is wood paneled and has a high ceiling. The balcony leads off the living area and is the nicest place to eat in the summer having a shady roof and fantastic views of the mountains and the sea. It is elevated above the vines and has been compared by some guests to a large bird's nest. The garden is very shady and cool with running water. There is a large paved barbecue area in front of the house under the vines with two tables giving another pleasant area to sit and enjoy the garden. There is a small duck pond and several ducks. There are also some chickens and guinea fowl and free range eggs are available. Grapevine Cottage offers you the opportunity of enjoying Turkish village life at first hand but it is also a welcome retreat at the end of a busy day’s sight seeing or swimming along the coast. More

If quiet relaxation is what you are looking for, then this is heaven. The owner could not be more helpful but at the same time never intrusive. The cottage is a rural retreat not a synthetic modern habitation which needs to be taken into account...More

This was easily one of the most perfect holidays that we could have wished for. The house far exceeded our expectations and the grounds within which it's set are completely stunning with ducks, chickens, turkeys etc pottering around the most charming overgrown lawn. Deborah is...More

About the neighbourhood
Islamlar is a cool haven situated 8k North of Kalkan on the Mediterranean coast. It is famous for its natural spring water and trout farms. There are many interesting anthropological sites to visit and beautiful deserted beaches. Islamlar, or Bodamya as it was once known, is known for its lush green gardens and was previously of mixed Turkish and Greek race. It is famous for its water powered stone mills that are still in use. The village makes its own tahini from locally grown sesame seeds. Every week the local women get together and make yufta, a natural flat bread made on an open fire from the stone milled flour. It is a fascinating area of great natural beauty. The village also has trout farms using the natural water that springs fresh from the mountain. There are several very good...
