Outstanding stay with very generous Hosts
Our 5 days stay in KILA DALIJODA was really an outstanding time ! A Heritage House with a so particular history , so kind and generous hosts sharing with us the family history but also their guidance and explanations when visiting local villages, discovering local art and craft , attending ceremonies as Puja , walking in the Jungle ... Additionnally , each meal was a discovey of cooking specialties , from Bengal or Odissa , anyway always a good surprise . So many experiences that will stay in our memories for a long time, for sure . Thanks again Debjit and Namrata for your so kind and generous sharing during our stay. We recommand a stay in KILA DALIJODA for anyone willing a real life experience and more understanding of original India as it is today .

Debjit and Namrata have many stories to tell about their home place - Kila Dalijoda, about their family and their ancestors who built the mansion and about India. And many places and people to visit around, with their guidance. It made our stay there a life experience. Thanks to them we gain a better and more profound understanding of India, this marvellous country. Our stay will remain in our memories ever.

Beautiful experience
Debjit and Namrata are excellent hosts and knowledgeable conversationalists who were able to give us a lot of information about life in Orissa, life in the wild and the development of society. One feels like a guest with good friends. One gets not only accommodation and full board, but also inspiration and well organized excursions. Thank you for this, from me a hundred percent recommendation.

Out of a fairy tale
Namrata and Debjit have re-created an idyllic world at Kila Dalijoda. Theirs is a labour of love, evidenced from their perennial attention to details and care for guests. This is one place that takes you back in time....and what a time it must have been! And the variety and taste of the food on offer! That'd require a separate chapter! Kila Dalijoda is one place where I can't wait to go back.

The homely Dalijoda lodge
Namrata and Debjit Singh Deo turn this old hunting lodge into a warm and comfortable experience. Living with them brings one face to face with the realities of residing in a forest, away from city conveniences. This is a true hands on experience in adaptation. While conversations with Namrata and Debjit are clearly the highlight of this experience, the food is simple but delightfully flavorful. While primarily Odhishan, their cuisine has a Bengali, Central Indian as well as a Gujarati influences, stemming from their backgrounds. However, their masterful adjustments would leave any western palate wonderstruck. Rice flour patties steamed in dried turmeric leaves to burnt cottage cheesecake, one finds eclectic flavors in this very simple appearing kitchen. If you are lucky, you may be treated to a dish of fresh baby bamboo shoots. If you are a fan, ask Namrata to make you Paan. The quality of the leaves from their garden betel nut creeper is subtle but distinctly sharp. The room and attached bath is spacious and very comfortable. Be prepared to meet some other friendly creatures, some more vocal than others! You are in a forest. Debjit has great relations with the other native folks (his neighbors) in the forest and beyond. Be prepared to walk. Personalized tours with Debjit to weaving or metal craft villages is a must. So are the trips to the forgotten step well and the Goushalla. Dalijoda is a rare and sobering experience that will linger in your thoughts for a long, long time.

Unique heritage homestay in harmony with its environment
25 kilometers west of Cuttack at the edge of the Dalijoda forest, Debjit and Namrata have reclaimed their heritage to provide a unique homestay experience that includes the local community. Spacious interiors reflect the hunting lodge ambience with wake-up calls from birds in the trees outside the windows. Debjit is a passionate birder and took us to three contrasting habitats - open scrub, dense teak forest, and wetland. We enjoyed visiting a tribe of elephant whisperers with historical ties to Debjit's family. The drive on a dirt road through dense teak forest, punctuated with sudden stops to observe interesting birds, was something out of an old story book. At the end of every outing there was a hot meal with dishes from traditional family recipes. Followed by stories of the generations that lived in this old hunting lodge. A rare heritage experience that we were lucky to have. Highly recommended for birding, nature, and heritage enthusiasts

A rejuvenating sujourn in the lap of nature.
If one is looking for a means to go back in time, the search definitely ends here. You get the best of both worlds, integrated and entwined in a perfect blend of rustically royal life style and comforts of a modern living. One has to be there to experience the serenity and divine radiance of Mata Baglamukhi's aura in the surroundings. At the same time one can immerse oneself in the cool, calm and tranquil depths of forests adjacent to the Kila. However, the icing on the cake is the pleasant presence of the hosts, Debjit Babu and Namrata, whose omnipresence and endearing humility leaves you soaked with warmth to the core. Thank you, Deb and Namrata, for making our visit so special, the memories of which we shall cherish for a long time to come. We are coming back to you again, for sure. Warm regards Raj Prasad.

A hidden gem filled with warmth and hospitality
A serene and comfortable place to stay close to Cuttack. We discovered this place by accident but we are glad we did so. The chirp of birds greeted us as we entered the property and as we sat by the nearby ponds all our worries melted away. The warmth and hospitality of the hosts Debjit and Namratha blew us away. An early morning bird watching trip in the nearby forests was icing on the cake. We wished we could have spent more time here than the one day we had and would love to do so again, Thanks for the memories Karthik , Sangeetha and Keerthana

Great experience!
Spending time at Kila Dalijoda was a great experience. It is a very nice place to unwind, fish at their ponds, eat homely food, learn their history, walk around the nearby villages and forests. Debjit and his family give each guest their personal attention. Their passion to bring their heritage to life and to contribute to the upliftment of their surroundings is very humbling.
