The main house, accessed at the first floor level, accommodates six persons in three bedrooms and two bathrooms located on the first and second floors. An open living room and kitchen/dining area is on the first floor. The ground floor level is a large open space appointed as an additional summer kitchen/dining area. It also houses a maid's room, a toilet and the laundry facility. The interior has been decorated in traditional style, with much use of the original furniture, with the exception of the kitchen and the bathrooms, which are appointed according to contemporary quality standards. The one-storey side building called The Guest House, is an attractive open-plan, split-level space with a high ceiling and plenty of light. The upper level area with its bathroom and walk-in closet is for sleeping, while the lower level serves as a living room.A patch of green separates the main house and the Guest House from the stone-paved pergola-covered terrace with a stone-built barbecue, which is the preferred summer dining area. It runs parallel to the swimming pool, which is surrounded by stone-paved terraces on two sides and flanked by a separate wood flooring sun deck offering plenty of extra space for sun bathing.Apart from the dining area and the poolside terraces there are two more terraces plus a wooden platform in the garden for those seeking a quiet corner only for themselves. The inner and the outer gardens cover some 3.000 square yards partially planted to orchard (orange, prune, fig, apple, quince, pomegranate and some vines) and with a conspicuous presence of sturdy walnuts, bay and oak trees.LUCIVANA's current owners are the descendants of the original owners who had built the house at the beginning of 19th century. After an extensive renovation ten years ago, it was occupied by the family of a Western diplomat serving in Croatia. The house has that feel of a 'home away from home', sought after by discerning travellers, who are looking for an authentic holiday experience and wish to capture the 'spirit of place'.LUCIVANA is suitable for families and groups of friends looking for a restful holiday in unpoluted air, yet only 25 minutes' drive from Dubrovnik, Croatia's jewel attracation. It is equally close to two entirely different worlds existing just across the border, in Bosnia and in Montenegro.A fifteen minutes' walk from the house (or a couple of minutes' drive) will take you to the edge of the spectacular Konavle cliffs offering a breathtaking view of the open sea and of the pebble beach below reached by a safe man-made path. A horse farm in the village offers possibilities of horseback riding through the neighbouring countryside.Although the house is located in the middle of the village, barely 200 m from a bus stop for the Dubrovnik and Cavtat bus lines, it is recommended to have a car as the food shops are available at a distance of about four kms. However, guests not wanting to keep a rented car for the entire duration of their stay, can rely on Lukan, the gardener, who is available to give guests a lift to the nearest food shops.More

Three years ago my wife and I were invited to a wedding in Dubrovnik, in early September, and we decided to spend a few extra days with friends, somewhere "in the vicinities, possibly in a quiet, shaded place". We were lucky to find just what...More

Dear Ferrante, Thank you for your poetic words describing your two stays at the Lucivana, You are quite right: it is difficult to compare the two experiences. During "the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" when the sun is penetrating your bones, but is not...More

Last September we have spent a week in this great property, in a beautiful area close to Dubrovnik. When we arrived there, met by Linda, the owner's pretty young niece, we had the impression that a happily living family had just left their home to...More
