The pool and beach: Kuruwitu Beach is one of the last unspoilt beaches on the Kenyan coast. Despite it being blissfully bare of people and beach boys/hawkers, it is secure as there are 'askari's' patrolling for the marine conservancy. It is also unusually clean as the conservancy oversee the picking up of the debris that is common along most coastlines. The snorkeling metres off the shore is excellent with an abundance of tropical fish, octopus, lobster and other marine life (some rare). There is a glass bottom boat as well as a fishing/dolphin spotting boat for hire. The conservancy also offer guided tours of the reef where there are even more wonderful snorkeling spots.
The infinity pool set in front of the house has a 'baby pool' section. The adjoining pool house is large and comfortable with a bar and small drinks fridge as well as a living and dining area, a water feature and sunbeds. The terrace below is not safe for young or unaccompanied children.
The house: All the large bedrooms are air-conditioned and have standing fans. The master bedroom has its own sectioned off veranda as well as a nook with a desk and an extra bed. The middle bedroom has a double bed but there is plenty of room for a cot. The rear bedroom has 2 single beds and a bunk bed. All bedrooms are ensuite with large bathrooms with showers.
There is wi-fi although our data bundle is sizeable but not unlimited.
The sitting/dining area is big and very airy with good security wrought iron all around. It is nicely furnished in a coastal style with wooden overhead fans and 'lamu beds' as sofa's. There is a games chest with scrabble, poker etc.
The kitchen is relatively small compared to the rest of the house and is manned by Reuben who is a competent cook specialising in seafood, curries and swahili style cooking. Pili is the housekeeper and takes care of the laundry and general cleaning.
Activities: If you can bear to drag yourself away from the fabulous pool and beach - the world class PGA Vipingo Ridge golf course is less than a 10 minute drive away. The elegant club house has a good restaurant in a beautiful setting. They also have a very pleasant Beach Club within walking distance to the house which is open for lunch Tuesday to Sunday as well as dinner on Wednesdays.
Kilifi which has supermarkets, some nice restaurants and a bustling little town is a 25 minute drive away to the North. Dhow trips can be taken up the creek here. Diving and a multitude of water sports (sailing, windsurfing, ski-ing etc) are available at the Mnarani Club. Malindi is a 1.5 hour drive Northwards.
Head 30 minutes south and Mtwapa has several excellent restaurants and tourist activities. The Bamburi Nature trail is 35 minutes from the house as is City Mall. Nyali is less than 40 minutes away with a cinema, shopping complex, hotels and night clubs. Old town Mombasa (Fort Jesus etc) is approx 45 minutes drive depending on the traffic.

I am so pleased that you had a good stay. You were a pleasure to host. Hope to welcome you back one day.
The house was exactly as advertised with a wonderful infinity pool and friendly staff. We spent our days being lazy around the pool and snorkeling in front of the house. Reuben, the cook, sourced fresh seafood from local fishermen and prepared wonderful meals for us....More
Lyndsey and Rob were a great help even before we set off introducing us to car hire companies, advising on best modes of travel and getting us into the New Years Eve party at the nearby Beach Club and helping stock the larder. The SafariLink...More
Kuruwitu Beach is on an award winning Marine Conservancy. It is a residential area and as such there is no-one hassling you on the beach. There is a very attractive Beach Bar within walking distance of the house open Tuesday to Sundays for lunch. A ten minute drive away is Vipingo Ridge, a golfing estate with the only PGA branded golf course in Africa. The Ridge also has many other activities such as horse-riding, mountain biking, tennis and forest walks. Half an hour away is Kilifi with an excellent repertoire of water sports such as water-skiing, sailing etc. There are several very good restaurants in Kilifi.
We recommend hiring a car (it is also possible to have a driver with the hired car who can stay on site) in order to maximise your stay. I can put you directly in touch with the company that offers my guests an excellent daily rate. If you prefer to use a taxi service, then I have an excellent driver with a 7 seater car that I can recommend. He is based half an hour away in Mtwapa.
