A short lane leads to the little house that is situated in a quiet area, amongst trees on the Carmel Mount. Although there is a country atmosphere about the place, you will be living in the middle of the city, close to good transport systems and easy access to great beaches, two major university campuses and shopping centres. Our best advertise is that our guests return to us! Cleaning included in price.

One of the best places I've ever stayed
I've stayed in many places and I rate The Artists House at the top. Why? A very cozy and beautifully designed space, wonderful views of mountains and Haifa Bay, above and beyond hospitality from Janet and Amos, quiet at night, solid wifi, and easy access to everywhere in Haifa through the clean, safe and on-time bus service. I did not have a car and I had no problem getting around. One caveat - if you have a hard time with stairs you want to look elsewhere as there are 17 stairs to climb to your front door. But I'm almost 70 and I had no trouble with the stairs. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

A B&B with its own charm
Janet and Amos are very nice, open-minded and first of all, very helpful hosts. The little B&B, which is located in the middle of a hill, has a fantastic view overlooking the harbor and the bay. It's not difficult at all for us to find it, provided you have a GPS. Parking directly before the house is not possible because the street is rather narrow. It's so narrow that the residents there have to drive to their private parking lots backwards. Anyway, you may park your car on the main road and walk a few steps to the B&B. A nice lady, who lives just above the parking lot and who can speak a bit Chinese, puts her head sometimes out of the window. Say a few words to her. It will be fun!

A home away from home
Not too easy to find and the steps are a challenge. Once inside great feeling of home. Fridge with bread, cheese, yogurt , pantry coffee, tea etc. Clean and very comfortable.

nice cozy small apartment, reasonably priced.
This is a very clean apartment in Haifa, consisting of a combo living room/bedroom, large bathroom and kitchen. Kitchen has a small frig, microwave, sink, hotplate, utensils and dishes. The owners, Janeft and Amos, are very accommodating and have the kitchen stocked with basics like milk, bread, butter, fruit, etc. (They live in the attached next door house) Weekly cleaning is included, as are plenty of clean towels. We used Haifa as our base for most of our 2 weeks in Israel( spent first two days in Eilat) and it was convenient except for 2 things: 1. We had a car rental and found getting home from different places difficult for first few days. We got lost pretty badly for about 3 eves. till we figured out landmarks , after that it was easy. 2. There are several uneven stone stairs leading to the apartment, a few without a banister. We are in our 60's and it was a little uncomfortable. For younger people it probably would not be an issue.

Janet and Amos are really great hosts
This apartment has been very well set out. The hosts, Janet and Amos are fantastic and friendly, their guests are invited to their place for a welcome drink and a 'meet and greet' which is great. Janet had even sent us co-ordinates, best possible route to take, directions to get to their place! The fridge was stocked with veges, we had fresh fruit on the table, bread and butter, a couple of types of tea, coffee, milk, sugar etc. Great sized bathroom, beautifully decorated, lots of towels. We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful place to stay
Spaceous airy room with huge bathroom and working kitchen with tea and coffe ( not to mention milk and water alread waiting for you in the house) in a bit off the path part of Haifa but one of the things that makes it even more attractive. Neighborhood is quiet. Nearby is a small market and a bus line is nearby as well. Having wifi in the house was also very helpful. Janet and Amos left maps and brochures to find all the things you might need in town. A quality working TV with cable was a nice addition. Parking is the only tough part, available within a block or two of the house but narrow streets require some manuevering. The house was a bargin for the price. Look forward to staying there again on our next visit to Haifa.

About the neighbourhood
Haifa is Israel's best kept secret. It is a quiet, beautiful, residential city with a decidedly European flavour, great beaches, two major university campuses and the center of the Bahai religion. The most outstanding feature of Haifa is its green, lush panoramic views. Because it is situated on the slope of the Carmel Mount, the magnificent combination of sea and mountain provide never-ending opportunities for breathtaking views as you climb up the mountain.

Haifa is divided into three areas – the downtown area at the bottom includes the port, bus and train stations, government buildings and businesses, the Hadar section in the middle features commercial and shopping districts and some older residential areas and the third area is the Carmel ridge which is mostly residential and restaurants. At the very bottom are some of Israel's best beaches and at the very top, some of Israel's most magnificent forests, the Carmel Forest (also called Little Switzerland).
Getting around
On the buses: From our neighbourhood of Neve Yosef, the local buses will take you to the two big bus terminals, on either side of Haifa. From there you can catch a bus to anywhere! In the car: The Artist's house is located near a big interchange to the north of Israel so you can drive quickly to all destinations.
