The lodge is 2 storey, with the living room having a sociable kitchen leading off, dining area and good sized sunny veranda perfect for using the gas barbecue . The double bedroom overlooks the river with bathroom adjoining. Upstairs there is a gallery with single sofa bed for occasional use, and a twin room under the eaves which looks out to the river. Refurbished in Spring 2016, when electrics were all checked and PAT test carried out on all appliances. An excellent base for exploring Dartmoor by foot, bicycle or car but also the beaches of South Devon with picturesque towns such as Dartmouth and Salcombe within 1hr away. The Dart valley railway is close by. Exeter with rail and airport links is 20 mins drive and Plymouth and Cornwall are perfect for a day trip. Locally there are plenty of traditional pubs to visit with the inn at Fingle bridge an easy riverside walk through the woodland. More

Lovely peaceful location disturbed only by the gentle gurgling of the nearby stream and bird song. Very well equipped self catering accommodation with lovely walks up and down this beautiful valley. Conveniently located for visiting Castle Drogo. Thank you for sharing your retreat with us.

I am pleased that you were there to enjoy the wild daffodils. Meadows full of flowers must be becoming more rare so it is extra special to be surrounded by them at Mole End at this time of year.

About the neighbourhood
A car is needed unless you are a keen walker. Some guests have caught a train to Exeter, taxi the 20 mins from the station and then walked. The lodge is only 3 mls from the junction of the A30, and the city of Exeter is 20 mins by car, with its rail network and airport. Plymouth is a swift drive and the beaches of Devon and Cornwall, the Dart Valley steam railway and picturesque coastal towns such as Dartmouth, Salcombe and Exmouth are easily accessible by car. Shops are found nearby at Moretonhampstead and Chagford, with a convenience shop 10 mins drive. Various supermarkets also deliver to the lodge.
How to get there
At end of M5 motorway at Exeter, junction 31, take A30 to 'Bodmin + Oakhampton'. After 10 miles you arrive at 'Woodleigh junction' turn left off here signposted to 'Cheriton Bishop'. In half a mile you enter the village, take 1st left immediately before the 'Old Thatch Inn', signed 'Clifford Bridge'. Follow the lane for 2 miles Turn right to 'Clifford Bridge' The road descends for about a mile to the crossroads at Clifford Cross, Go straight on and in a few yards you arrive at the bridge.Immediately after the bridge turn left and there is the phone box and 5bar gate to the park. There is no sign. Follow the drive through the meadow and no 14 is the 2nd lodge on the left. Please park in the parking area .
