Our B&B is located between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone, Paddock Wood and its train station is a 10 minute drive and London is 50 minutes on the train. We are perfectly situated to make the most of Kent’s fabulous attractions, including the gardens at Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle and Great Dixter. Bedgebury Pinetum offers lovely walks and various off road bike routes. There are many National Trust properties to visit, excellent cycle and walking routes, Vineyards to tour and taste and great shopping with a good mix of independently owned and top chain stores in Tunbridge Wells. We also benefit from some highly acclaimed restaurants and pubs in the area.
Our home is on two popular cycle routes (Linton loop and the Paddock Wood loop), within the B&B's private garden there is a shed where bikes can be stored.

Right from first contact after our booking the owner was very friendly and helpful, and the accommodation was very clean, comfortable and well appointed and equipped. Instructions were comprehensive, the beds were very comfortable, the shower good, and we appreciated the food that was put out for us to use. The room is very quiet - apart from when the storms of last week were raging! - and we felt rested and refreshed by our visit. Full marks all round.

Wonderful Find!
Just returned from a wonderful stay at The Old Engineer. I cannot recommend this gorgeous little place enough! Cosy, clean and comfortable. Perfectly situated for visiting the numerous National Trust properties in the area and exploring the beautiful Kent countryside and coast. The little patio was my favourite spot to enjoy an evening drink. Jo is the perfect host, respecting you privacy, whilst being on hand if needed. Would definitely return.

Perfect In Every Way
We stayed here the weekend of our wedding ahead of our honeymoon and it was perfect.
It is such a beautiful little place with everything that you could possible ask for.
The host clearly cares by all the little extra touches around the place such as eggs from their own hens to spare toiletries if you forget your own etc.
The private courtyard offers an ideal place to sit and enjoy the weather and gets the sun right into the evening.
We are fairly local anyway but definitely see ourselves coming back in the future for a quiet weekend here and there.
Thank you for such a pleasant stay!

Perfect - we'll be back!
We had such a lovely time here! It was so peaceful and the cottage is delightful. Everything you need is there (including breakfast) and so well thought through. The kitchenette was a real surprise, so clever! Being able to sit outside in the private garden area was perfect. Jo (host) was extremely helpful and we had a great time exploring the local walks in the lovely Kent countryside. We will definitely be coming back!

Beautifully presented peaceful place to retreat
We stayed here for the weekend in February. It is very tastefully decorated and furnished, and has everything you need. Its situated in a lovely part of Kent, on a quiet country road with its own entrance and private courtyard. Stunning countryside right on your doorstep. The bed is SO comfortable! Jo, the host, couldn't have been more helpful to make it a really memorable stay. We left very relaxed, and will definitely be going back.

Simply Perfect
I feel so lucky to have found this place. We were attending a wedding in the area and stayed for 3 nights. The setting and location are spectacular. A rural idyll. Jo was extremely friendly and helpful and recommended some glorious Kentish pubs. The annexe is self contained and overlooks an incredible garden. It is beautifully decorated, with fabulous attention to detail, and fresh linens. It was a perfect weekend and one we won’t forget. 10/10.

Heavenly little gem
This gorgeous little place is such a find, set in the glorious Kent countryside with views across farmland. It's also within easy driving distance of lovely gardens such as Sissinghurst and Penshurst Place that we really enjoyed.
The host is incredibly helpful and considerate and the accommodation is elegantly and immaculately presented, with thoughtful little touches including a private outside courtyard and a well-equipped kitchenette complete with microwave, fridge and hob. There are some great pubs nearby for hearty evening meals and wonderful country walks. Very relaxing and highly recommended.

A beautiful place to stay.
I was so lucky to find this place. The Old Engineer is perfect. It is clean, very comfortable with fine linens and furnishings. I was really impressed with the attention to detail with touches like fresh flowers from Jo’s wonderful garden. I was lucky to be there in sunshine so I could eat the delicious breakfast provided in my own pretty courtyard.
I would have stayed longer if I could and will definitely book again in the future.
