Our cottage is located in beautiful Providence Bay, Ontario on Manitoulin Island. Manitoulin Island is the largest fresh water island in the world with a rich aboriginal history of dating back as far as 10,000 BC. Providence Bay is a delightful village community situated on Lake Huron on the south shore of the island in Georgian Bay. It is easily accessible from Sudbury (less than 2 hours away) or from the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry as South Bay Mouth and the Ferry Terminal is only 25 minutes away.)
Providence Bay is renowned for the best sandy beach on the island, with an extensive boardwalk and a children's play area. (not to mention a welcomed lack of mosquitoes and black flies)
Providence Bay is a unique to most areas in Northern Ontario in that there are virtually no black flies and almost no mosquitoes throughout most of the year. The annual Providence Bay Fair in August attracts thousands of visitors to the area. The parade snakes through the town to the delight of the gathering crowds. The Fair is held on the third weekend of August each year. Providence Bay also boasts fantastic cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.
Another plus: it's only 25 minutes from the ferry at South Baymouth.

Interaction with guests:Â Please note that unless the optional linen and towel service is purchased, guests are required to bring full sheet sets (top sheet, fitted sheet, pillow case) and showering / beach towels. We do provide comforters on every bed, pillows with pillow covers, all hand towels and kitchen towels at no cost.
Why do we charge for linens and towels? Over the years of renting our cottage, we have found that many guests prefer to bring their own bed linens and/or favorite towel for showering so in the efforts of keeping our nightly rates as low as possible, we exclude the costs associated with laundering and replacing towels and linens in our base nightly rate.
Handtücher muss man selbst mitbringen. Waschmaschine und Trockner sind nicht nutzbar.

Perfect Vacation Place for Summer
This place is perfect for Summer.
Especially After End of June to 2nd Week of July.
It's north of Canada, if weather is cold, no meaning to stay near by beach. It's waste of time, especially if you are going with Kids. Otherwise awesome to stay.

Thank-you for your review, though we are disappointed that you rated us based on the weather you experienced. Thank-you for your second review that was a 9.2 with the comment that the cottage "exceeded your expectations". We are glad you enjoyed the cottage, hopefully the weather will be better the next time you come. :)

Cozy Paradise!
Our friends and family stayed at this cottage for a weekend and it was amazing! The very spacious cottage is fully furnished with comfortable beds and seating and there are tons of toys for kids and even board games and yard games for adults! 4 bedrooms upstairs gave us lots of room and having 2 washrooms was an added bonus considering there were quite a few of us staying for the weekend. We cooked all our meals in the large kitchen which saved us a lot of money by not having to eat out. The owner had the furnace running already when we arrived so the cottage was warm and cozy right from the start. One of the many highlights were the night time fires in the backyard (with S'mores) with the sound of the waves in the background. We will be back!

A comfortable home away from home
This cottage in Providence Bay is like a home away from home. Its location so close to the water allows for going to sleep to the soothing sounds of the water coming to shore and the winds rushing through the pine trees. In the evenings one can walk the board walk along the beach to watch the gorgeous sunsets. The cottage offers many amenities that would be useful for families with children. We only wish that we could have had access to such a cottage when our children were little. We highly recommend it.

Wonderful cottage rental to enjoy the Island
We stayed here with a group of friends and had an amazing time. The cottage was beautiful and in a great spot to enjoy Providence Bay (the beach, fish and chips, boardwalk, lighthouse), as well as in a good spot to travel to other spots on the Island (Mindemoya, Gore Bay, etc.). The cottage was very clean and well maintained, and had a lot of space in the living room that was great for dinners. Backyard was great as well with lots of room. Well stocked with yard games and board games. We also loved the front porch for a cup of coffee and reading in the morning. Overall great spot. We will for sure be booking early to reserve for next year!

Awesome Cottage Rental
We stayed at this cottage over a weekend for March Break. The cottage has everything that you could possibly need. The booking process was easy and without any issues. We even received a phone call from Dean once we arrived to make sure that everything was in order! We will definitely rent this cottage again!

Complete vacation rental
My wife and two adult children had a great time in Providence Bay. The cottage was a large four bedroom. Very spacious including a full kitchen and living room. Good library plus board games for inclement weather. We were very impressed with the beds. Great nights sleep. The cottage was kept very clean and it showed that Dean and Robin really care about the cottage.
The Providence Bay beach is great! It is approximately 2 km's long and not very busy.
I would recommend it to anyone considering staying on Manitoulin Island for a few days or longer.

Excellent cottage for family vacation
Excellent cottage and location on Manitoulin island. Fully equipped for family with young children.
Kids loved feeding the friendly chipmunks right out of thier hands.
Beach is beatiful, but the water was cold this year due to the poor weather.
River behind cottage comes compete with jumping fish and a beaver family that makes an appearance every night.
Breeding ground for monarch butterflies which was educational for the kids.
We visited bridal veil falls, kagawog, kicking mule ranch and fished all three inland lakes with motor boat rental.
Only regret was that we didn't plan a providence bay fishing charter...

Beautiful!
The house was absolutely perfect for our group of family and friends - clean, roomy, welcoming and child-friendly. Even when the weather went ugly, we played games, cooked happily in the big kitchen, and lounged comfortably indoors. Thank-you from all of us, Dean. This place is a gem, and we are hoping very hard to get the same week in August in 2015!
