Thank you, High Tide, for accommodating our family of 6. The house is in a very peaceful location. Winding Bay was the perfect body of water to wake up to in the morn, and rest at in the evening.
The house was plenty spacious, providing ample privacy for all bedrooms. The outdoor showers were the only ones we used. Though the neighboring houses are close, you would never know it due to the lush vegetation. There was nothing that we needed that the house didn't have.
There are many beautiful beaches nearby, including Paw Paw Beach and Lighthouse Beach a little further south. But if you don't want to drive around, High Tide offers a variety of surf a few steps away. The Bay itself is calm with an occasional turtle or ray sighting. We only saw other people a couple of times. Walking a few minutes south along the Atlantic Coast are gorgeous beaches. Also, one of our favorite journeys, which we took often, was floating down the cut to Half Sound just before low tide, hanging out on a sandbar, and floating(on our backs) back home. Half sound always had turtles a plenty.
There is a small grocery store about three miles away for essentials. Better to journey down to Rock Sound if you want fruits and vegetables.
Two things to watch out for while in Eleuthera. The No See Ums are pretty brutal in the morning and evening, but they never bothered us when we were near the water. The other- garbage, and I see this as all of our problem, not just Eleuthera's. Many of the beaches are strewn with garbage from storms, cruise ships, tourists, etc. The beauty still abounds, but just trying to paint the whole picture.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful island with it's incredible sand and crystal clear waters!!!
