We just returned from a week-long stay at Bellosguardo, a truly gorgeous home situated on Winding Bay Beach, one of the prettiest beaches we have seen (&we have traveled throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America). The photos that the owner, Elizabeth, has posted are exactly what you can expect to find when you walk in the doors of Bellasguardo. Much thought was put into the design/layout of this home, so that you have gorgeous, floor to ceiling ocean front views across the entire back of the home and beautiful garden views across the front. We traveled with our two teen kids and their room and bath room and the master room and bathroom were separated and everyone had plenty of "space" for our week together. We all found the beds to be very comfortable, and the showers have great shower heads with plenty of water pressure. As Elizabeth mentions, the island has a reverse osmosis filtration system for the water and so we used water straight out of the tap all week, for drinking and for cooking. The study areas are nice for plugging in a laptop or phone, and the kitchen is modern and well-equipped with all utensils/dishware items you might need. It was great to have a modern washer/dryer combo right in the home, so we could do a little laundry as needed. The beach is just steps away from the house& we loved sitting under the beach cabana each day! Even in the July heat, this beach receives constant, cool ocean breezes. The kayaks are wonderful... Elizabeth has left great clear directions about places to take them out (including through the "cut" to Half Sound) and we had them out every day. The beach is white sand and where the waves reach the shoreline, you'll see pinkish hues in the sand. The water is crystal clear and was as warm as bath water for us this month...wonderful! There is a nice gas grill on the front deck, and we enjoyed grilling out fresh fish (which you can bring in yourself or pick up from the local fishermen who bring it in weekdays around 1p at the pier in Tarpum Bay). Also in Tarpum Bay around dusk, we enjoyed getting fresh conch salad, something the locals prepare, and it is similar to a ceviche...delicious! There are NOT many restaurants in the Winding Bay area& no night life, just fyi. We tried Shantzii's (our fav!),Dolphin Blow Hole, &had a dinner prepared for us by Rosie, at Northside Inn Restaurant&Bar, and also drove up to Tippy's in Governor's Harbor. Rock Sound has a full grocery store&wine shop.
