This was an excellent find for a family Christmas - with the dog! We find that many holiday lets are dog tolerant rather than dog friendly but this was lovely. Hard floors downstairs, a door between the living space downstairs and the access upstairs to the bedrooms, a secure garden, and fields to walk in only a stone’s throw away. It suited the teenage children too. Another challenge at Christmas away from home is whether a ‘well equipped kitchen’ is really well equipped enough to cater for a turkey dinner for five. And this kitchen certainly copied admirably. The house was clean, inviting, and decorated for Christmas. We did have some issues with the heating - it took us several days to master the controls. The thermostat is in the kitchen, and as the family chef toiled away, the kitchen diner was warm as toast but the rest of the house left a bit to be desired. It also took us a few days to master the wood burner. This wouldn’t prove an issue to summer visitors. There is plenty to do nearby, lots of country parks and nature reserves. The spaniel had an absolute blast. Our only disappointment was that the local pub, within walking distance admittedly, was down a very narrow and fairly busy country lane. Again, in the summer this could be accessed through the fields which would make for a very pleasant walk. We decided not to take our life in our hands and stayed firmly indoors in the evening. We did have to cook every evening, and the supermarket wine sales saw an upward blip. We would love to go back in the summer. The owners greeted us on arrival, supplied a much appreciated welcome pack, and left us to our own devices. Even though they live nearby, they were not intrusive at all.

What a BEAUTIFUL house!
We are currently sitting at the dining room table overlooking the stunning manicured and enclosed garden which our dogs love exploring. The house looks exactly as it does in the pictures and property description- very airy and spacious and sleeps five comfortably. This is a real home-from-home.
The property also has two washrooms (one bathroom with shower over the bath and also a large shower room).
We were welcomed by Zoe who gave us a brief tour and then left us to enjoy our holiday in rural East Sussex. She also gave us a welcome pack which consisted of eggs, milk, brioche rolls, a bottle of wine and biscuits for that much needed cup of tea, and also a folding gate so that our two dogs couldn't get up the stairs.
Situated close to the A21, this house is in close proximity to Rye, Hastings, Carr Taylor Vineyard and any other places of interest that you may want to visit and is surrounded by rural, open fields, away from the hustle and bustle.
If you want a quiet holiday, but also want it jam packed with adrenaline activities such as walking, cycling and horse riding and only the sound of birdsong, then this is the place to stay. I would urge you to book now.
We would come here again.
