We felt at home right away!
We felt at home right away. Suzana welcomed us very friendly with clear instructions, good suggestions and wine, shortbread and fresh flowers. The characteristic nice house was very clean (and was kept clean by Suzana weekly!) and contained all we need, even more; we could live here. The location is nice and quite, for us a perfect 'base camp' from where to discover the Highlands. Top experience were the dolphins at Chanonry Point, only a 45 minute walk from the house. We did our groceries in Avoch, Inverness or Dingwall; all very practical. All in all very very good! Thank you Suzana!

A wonderful, relaxing and idyllic stay by the beach
We stayed in this beautiful cottage as a family with young children in August. We were blown away with the cottage. It is simply amazing. It is clean, spacious, relaxing and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen is incredibly well resourced and we wanted for nothing. The bathroom is clean and modern. I want a walk-in shower like that! The children loved their room and looking out of the window at the sea. We loved waking up each morning to the sound of the sea lapping on the shore. The weather was amazing for us so we loved sitting in the garden on the patio, enjoying the sun and having a cup of tea. Or, we loved sitting on the living room window seat looking out at the beach and the sea. It was great to relax in the evening, pull the curtains closed and get comfy in the living room. This is a fantastic base for exploring the local area with great walks and places to see. We were very sad to leave but can't wait to return.

A Black Isle Delight
Tanera Mor has been the ideal base for three old friends to settle in to the delights of Avoch and the beauties of the Black Isle. The setting, views, comfort, facilities and location in the village suited us all perfectly . We were always delighted to come back to the cottage and the wonderful bay position with such extensive and ever changing vistas. We enjoyed the weather (which was generally good), and the bird population here is spectacular. Local walks from the cottage and along the old railway were so enjoyable and the historic and geographic aspects of the area were full of surprises. The cottage gave us the ideal base for family reunions during our stay, as well as reviving memories of earlier years. Thank you Susana !

Lovely cottage
This is a lovely cottage and host Suzana was also lovely. Absolutely spotless and very well stocked with crockery and cutlery, also salt and pepper etc. Suzana was kind enough to leave us a bottle of wine and some shortbread. A lovely touch. Absolutely fantastic views from all windows. Lacks a way for both or all of you to put your feet up to watch TV in the lounge. 2 sofas or another footstool would have been good. Garden big and well kept and it was beautiful when we went in June. Loved hearing the house sparrows who are clearly resident and very tame. Again it lacks comfortable seating tho. But overall our stay was very comfortable and we really enjoyed our break in this cottage.

Fantastic
We have just spent a week at this lovely cottage and enjoyed every minute. Its warm and comfy with all mod cons needed. Suzana the owner was friendly, flexible and generous as we enjoyed our welcome gift of wine and shortbread. We fished, walked, enjoyed watching red kites and watched for dolphins but only saw a seal. Enjoyed the surrounding villages and the beach. Highly recommend. Thanks Suzana

Great Cottage in a fantastic location
Ideal base for exploring the Black Isle (or indeed further afield. The cottage is well appointed, clean and clearly well looked after. The owner (Suzana) was extremely helpful and met us as arranged. The weather during our visit was fantastic and we used the patio area in the back garden most late afternoons. As two 75 + year olds we did find accessing the patio area difficult (but worth it).

Dear Bill I ll be looking at how to make the patio easier to get to, its a steep slope up! Would a hand rail have helped? Kind regards Suzana

Lovely wee cottage
Booked this cottage for 4 day stay to attend our nephews wedding in nearby Rosemarkie. Owner Suzana was so helpful and had great communications before and after. On arrival, Suzana showed us around and how everything worked. The cottage is fantastically equipped, especially the kitchen and had everything we wanted. The cottage is in a fantastic location, literally 10 yards from the sea in the lovely village of Avoch. It is a quirky little house with bric a brac from all around the world, where nothing really matches but all this just adds to the lovely quaint atmosphere. Would highly recommend and definitely use again if in the area.

Map
About the neighbourhood
The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are probably the most stunning and varied landscape of the British Isles! Life runs at a more relaxed pace as towns and villages spread out and traffic slows to a sensible, sheep friendly speed on the exposed roads through the glens. Wild life is close to hand and deer need special attention from the driver as they suddenly appear on the roads, as do pheasants who once on the road seem to find it very difficult to decide which way they plan to go and often just run ahead of the car this way and that uncertain of a safe exit!! Red Kites, Buzzards, Rabbits, Badgers, Pine Martins, Grouse, Ducks, Osprey, Eagles, Red Squirrels, Ptarmigans, Otters, Puffins, and many other mammals and sea birds live here or make it their seasonal home. The east coast enjoys a sheltered position and agriculture is primary to local communities. Inverness our Highland capital is a transport hub and cultural hot spot. Eden Court Theatre has an exciting program of classical and popular concerts, musicals shows, theater, opera, two cinemas showing a varied selection of films a popular cafe and restaurant. The lovely Town House also provides a venue for chamber music. Boat trips down the canal to Loch Ness are always in search of the legendary monster and there are plenty of local distilleries to visit for a taste of 'the good stuff' Summer visitors enjoy the many castles that open their grounds to the public and winter attracts skiers to the Cairngorms. The ancient mountains are accessible all year round but the long summer days make a day out last so much longer!! A visit to the highlands can not be complete without a visit to the Isle Skye and now there is a bridge no one need wait for a boat to take them 'over the sea to Skye'

How to get there
It is advisable to have a car as the bus service is not a direct route. Drive north from Inverness to the Black Isle on the A9 crossing the Kessock Bridge, and look out for signs to Munlochy to your right. Follow the road to a T junction and turn right towards Cromarty. The road is very scenic and there is a pull in on the right overlooking Munlochy Bay and excellent place to get your binoculars out and take in the views. Arriving in Avoch, look out for Long Road on the right (just after the 20mph signs) which takes you down to the shore. Turn right onto Henrietta street and Tanera More is number 45!! YOu can park on the grass opposite or down the side of the cottage. All in all about 20 minute from Inverness. Bienvenido! If you are flying into Dalcros Airport (Easy Jet, Flybe, KLM,) there are hire cars available at the airport, also Arnold Clark, Inverness, operate an airport pick up/drop off for people renting from their garage in Harbour Road, Inverness. If you are travelling by train, the station is situated in the heart of Inverness beside Falcon Square. If you are travelling by bus the bus terminal is into Faraline car park situated beside the train station.
