Our vacation home in Donegal, Ireland is situated on the road between the heritage town of Ardara and the lovely village of Glencolumcille in west Donegal - about a 3 hour drive from Belfast Airport and Larne ferry terminal and about 3 hours 30 minutes from Dublin Airport and ferry terminal. The breathtaking beach at Maghera, complete with caves, is very close by. There are also some great golf courses in Donegal. Please note that the garden is a haven for small wildlife and as such may be uncut at times.

Donegal week
Countryside and location was beautiful. Cottage very well kitted out and loved the living room especially for relaxing and reading in evenings. Unfortunately we lost all power from cottage on Thursday afternoon until midday Friday which posed some challenges around cooking and showering during that period. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Hi Miriam so sorry to hear that you were without power at the cottage for a short time. It’s one of the few drawback of this beautiful remote area, electricity and water systems can sometimes fail, though it’s rare and usually they are restored fairly quickly. Glad you enjoyed your stay! Kind regards Colette

Perfect getaway
A beautiful and peaceful location, perfect for a mini break with friends. The cottage is much bigger inside than expected, beautifully decorated with lovely pieces of furniture. Beds were super comfortable. Everything needed is supplied. Plenty to see and do in the immediate area, visited waterfalls, two stunning beaches. The area is very scenic. Great care and attention to detail has went into this cottage, thanks for a lovely break.

Little irish cottage
Clean, comfortable and homely. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Returning to the cottage in the evening was a real treat, turf fire, good book and a big mug of tea, bliss!! One of our most enjoyable holidays

Characterful cottage
We had a very enjoyable week here, the location was very beautiful and wild, but not far from many interesting places. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable.

Amazing cottage on the Wild Atlantic Way
We have been to this gem of a cottage several times and it has everything you could ask for and more. It’s spotlessly clean, homely, peaceful and is situated in a stunning location. I could go on but I will just recommend that you go and see it for yourself, you won’t regret it!

Mrs
Beautiful cottage to stay in. The cottage is beautifully decorated, extremely cosy and has everything you need to self cater. Great nights sleep as beds were so comfortable and we had a cosy fire on in the evening with a nice glass of wine, totally relaxed. The area the cottage is in, is stunning with so many beautiful places to visit nearby.

Where do I begin? A wonderful stay from start to finish. Very well equipped with instructions for heating etc. Location perfect, half way between GlenColumkile and Ardara on a most scenic route with the best views. Yes you need a car but this is Donegal, everybody needs a car! Easily found from instructions. Great comfy living room with open fire. Be sure and get some local peat. We will return which is the highest compliment I can pay.

Great place
We’ve been there in February with our three kids. Although the weather was cold and snowy we had an amazing time in this beautiful surrounding. The cottage is extremely comfortable, quiet, clean, spacious and well equipped. Perfect place to relax. We hope to come back.

Magical
Had the most wonderful time in this lovely remote spot. All the comforts of home and the beauty of an oldie worldie feel in the open fired living room. Comfy beds and lots of lovely crafty pieces, throws and blankets there for everyone. Will definitely be back.

About the neighbourhood
Our cottage in Donegal is only a 10 mile drive (16 kms) from Slieve League, where you will find the highest sea cliffs, not just in Ireland but all of Europe! It is very peaceful at the cottage with beautiful mountain views and walks. The sun doesn't set until after 10.00pm in Summer in this part of Ireland and it is lovely to sit outside and enjoy the last rays of the sun before it sinks into the west. With little or no light pollution, the stars on a clear night are spectacular. There are lots of beautiful unspoilt Atlantic beaches in the immediate area (the beautiful and spectacular Maghera beach is only 8 miles away) and loads of little bars where you can enjoy traditional Irish music. Many fine restaurants are located in the area. There are many traditional knitwear and tweed producers in this part of Donegal. For hiking, rambling and walking, there are marked walks (one of them is less than a mile from the cottage) and the gorgeous and spectacular Glengesh pass is only a five minute drive away. There is some of the best surfing in Ireland available at various locations around Donegal Bay, especially at Rossnowlagh, Tramore, Dooey Strand and Bundoran. And Donegal has some great golf courses.
