This barn conversion (situated on a small farm in East Devon) has recently been completed and is now a self contained annexe to the original farmhouse which is believed to have been built in the 1700s. It is called 'Talala' which means 'peaceful'. The upstairs bedroom has a comfortable king size bed, a built in cupboard with hanging space and shelves, and a dressing table and is carpeted throughout. A unique feature of the bedroom are the original exposed beams. The bedroom window looks out over the surrounding fields where deer are often seen in the early morning. Please note that the stairs leading to the bedroom are gated at the bottom. We can provide a chairbed in the bedroom, for older children. The upstairs bathroom also has exposed beams and is simply decorated with mahogany cup...This barn conversion (situated on a small farm in East Devon) has recently been completed and is now a self contained annexe to the original farmhouse which is believed to have been built in the 1700s. The spacious sitting room has seating for 6, slate flooring, a log fire burner and big flat screen TV with dvd player. There is a double sofa bed which can sleep 2 people. There is a gated doorway leading through to the breakfast/kitchenette area where there is a sink, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, 8-in-1 Multi Chef (you can roast, steam, slow cook, sauté, boil, grill, fry and bake in it.) a hotplate, an iron and ironing board and crockery and cutlery. Provisions for a continental breakfast are supplied. There is a dining room table with seating for 4. There is no washing machine but should you need any washing done, please tell your host and it can be done for you in the farmhouse. Guests do have access to a private garden where they can relax and have a barbecue. We do have livestock and dogs on the farm so please make sure gates are kept closed at all times- particularly the ones leading to the road. We also have a big pond so for health and safety reasons, the pond, poultry area and fields are out of bounds. We are more than happy to show you around if you would like to see the animals. We also have another barn conversion on the farm listed as 'Mwendafye' so please also have a look at that, as the 2 cottages are very different.More

Good communications from hosts. Cottage was very clean and well equipped. Breakfast provisions were excellent and far in excess of what two people needed. The stay was excellent value for money and I would recommend to friends and will book again if in the area

About the neighbourhood
The property is situated between Honiton and Axminster, and close to the villages of Dalwood, Stockland, Kilmington and Wilmington - within easy reach from the A30. It thus offers a convenient base for exploring a range of activities and places of interest in the south west. East Devon is famous for its Jurassic coast. Seaton, which is situated at the mouth of the River Axe(and is only 30 minutes away) also has a scenic golf course and a yacht club. (there are also other golf courses in the area at Monkton and Honiton) It is also famous for its tramway which runs through the Axe valley nature reserve to Colyton. There are other animal centers like Cricket St. Thomas Wildlife Park, Ferne Animal sanctuary and Otter Estuary Nature Reserve (which has a range of birdlife and free fishing)...
How to get there
Directions will be emailed to you in the week prior to arrival. There are some taxis available, but need to be booked in advance and seldom available on Sundays.
