Ample off road parking. Shared lawn with table and chairs. Sorry, no smoking. Two well behaved dogs welcome. Shop and pub 1.5 miles. Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales. Town: A market town with a rural atmosphere offering shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as farmers’ markets. There is a 17th century market hall and a leisure centre nearby. Bakewell is in the Peak District National Park and is ideally placed for exploring the area. The Dark Peak and the White Peak are within easy reach. Also Alton Towers is only a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, with the caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also worth a visit. Take a trip to Buxton and visit the impressive Edwardian Opera House, designed by Frank Matcham, who also designed the London Palladium.More
