Tan y Gaer is a detached house set in its' own grounds. The holiday letting comprises the main house with the owner retaining the wing for her own use, so to that extent it's semi detached. The holiday house has its own private garden and BBQ area. Recently modernised, the property comprises a total of 4 bedrooms, one of which is a twin, the other are double bedded rooms. On the ground floor there is a large kitchen/breakfast room leading out across the patio into the private garden area. There's also a washing machine area, double bedroom, bathroom with walk in shower and a lounge with Sky TV including Sky Sports.Upstairs there's a master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite with a roll top bath, a further double bedded room, a family bathroom with electric shower and a twin bedded room. About the neighbourhood
Guilsfield is a village some 7 minutes away from Welshpool where there is a range of independent shops and major attractions such as the fabulous National Trust property Powis Castle, and the Welshpool and Llanfair steam railway. The village itself has two shops open 7am - 9pm daily and two pubs, each with a restaurant within easy walking distance. For gardening enthusiasts, the Derwen Garden Centre in the village attracts aficionados from across the UK.
Yes it is quiet, peaceful and an ideal place to spend quality time with friends and family. No, it's never boring. There's so much to do and see you'll need to come back for more......
Getting around
In a rural area the bus services are I frequent but they are generally reliable. Buses to Welshpool and Oswestry stop by request at the entrance to the estate about 100 yards from the cottage. A taxi to Welshpool train station is about 7 minute drive and costs about £5. There is a train service which takes you the length of the beautiful Cambrian coast or you can venture inland connecting to the Heart of Wales line.

Railway: Welshpool: 6.0 km
Although the expression ' Mid Wales' conjures up a vision of remoteness, our area is incredibly accessible with Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham all under 90 minutes drive away. We are well connected to the motorway network via the M6 and M54.

Shrewsbury is about half an hour away with Chester and Telford 45 minutes away. The rail network goes through Welshpool with an hourly service from Birmingham at peak times. We are happy to arrange taxis for your group.
