A great stay at a wonderful place in a beautiful location.
Bryn Gwyn was a wonderful place to stay. Situated overlooking the sea and hills, adjacent to Porthmadog and accessible to many of the fine places you may want to see or visit in Wales. Booking was easy and throughout the lead up as well as during our stay, Jane ws always helpful, quick to respond and a delight to deal with. The house accommodates eight, however there were six in our party and everyone was very happy, with quite frankly everything! Comfortable beds, spacious living areas, a big kitchen, as well as plenty of equipment for our stay. Outside a lovely seating area to savour the fantastic views. There is plenty to keep you occupied locally with a short stroll to the beach or in to Porthmadog with its plentiful supply of shops, restaurants and bars. Our main aim over the weekend was to walk in the hills and again the house was well situated to reach any of the decent walks including access to Snowden.

Highly recommend
We had a delightful family holiday. Accommodation was excellent for the 6 adults staying here. Location was perfect for coastal walks and cycling. Very pretty and scenic. Porthmadog a pleasureable 10 minutes walk away. The weather was kind to us. Snowdon a must as well as Coed y Brenin Country Park. At the end of an active day it was lovely to come back to the comfort of Bryn Gwen in Borth y Gest.

A little slice of perfection...we'll be back.
My husband and I have just returned from staying 4 nights at Bryn Gwyn and we have nothing but good to say about this house. Whilst there was only 2 of us for an 8 birth property, it still managed to feel homely, so much so that we opted not to go out for evening meals but stay home with takeaway or home cooked meals, I'm not usually a fan of cooking much on holiday but we wanted to spend time in this lovely house. The house itself is so well equipped, the kitchen has everything you need and more, really a home from home. It may seem like a lot of extra rules due to coronavirus but the efforts being made here to keep the guests safe is impressive and certainly not oppressive, we appreciated the attention to detail. The view which everyone mentions is an absolute delight to wake up to every morning, you never tire of it and we have certainly missed it. Of course everything always looks so much nicer when the weather is good and we were lucky to have decent weather for our stay. Location to Portmeirion and other sights was very convenient and the proximity to a well equipped high street was appreciated, the Tesco superstore a few mins drive away made it all very easy to shop for provisions. I could go on but I'll stop now but enough to say we would definitely recommend this house (maybe not if you have anyone with mobility issues and access up is a bit steep) and we ourselves will be back one day.

fantastic views and a great house
We walked into the living room, clapped our hands and said `wow what a view, what a fabulous place`. The property has everything you need, and nothing you don't. Even though it was March - we felt sheltered enough to sit on the balcony with our morning coffee and watch the tide ebb and flow, and the oyster catchers picking through the sand. There are some beautiful beaches and lovely walks. We visited just before everything shut down due to the coronavirus, and feel very lucky to have managed to get away to such a beautiful place, that I can keep dreaming off.

Great property and location
Spent a great week here, walking distance to a number of fabulous beaches - steep steps up to the house but worth it for the terrific views of the coastline. - would definitely recommend for a family/walking holiday !!

Great location with fantastic views
We have always liked Borth y Gest and this was our first stay in this beautiful area. We chose this house because of it's location, overlooking the bay. Bryn Gwyn is a beautiful house with all good-sized rooms, with comfortable bedrooms and lounge and well-equipped kitchen with adjoining large dining room. The house is fitted out to a high standard and everything is spotlessly clean. The views of the bay from the lounge and front bedrooms are exceptional, changing with the tides. Our family group of 5 had great time here. We walked the coastal paths, toured around the area took in a scenic train ride.

Probably the best view in North Wales
Visited Borth y Gest for a long weekend and we were delighted from start to finish at the Bryn Gwyn guest house. We were welcomed by the owner who couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable. As we were shown round the huge 4 bedroom house on arrival the first thing which struck us were the stunning views across Tremadog Bay literally from every room! The house is ideally located, perched in the hills yet only a stones throw from the sea front and had everything we could need: a BBQ and huge outdoor table and chairs - perfect for an evening beer whilst watching the sun set. A wood burner and luxurious leather sofas in the large lounge with an equally large bay window - the ideal spot to watch the hues of the Snowdonia mountains change throughout the day. A high spec kitchen / diner - perfect for cooking for a large group after a memorable afternoon hiking the mountains. Generously sized bedrooms with more huge windows that let the light and views stream in and very comfortable beds (we all slept very, very well) plus it has decent Wi-Fi too. It really did feel like a home away from home. Location-wise you can't get much better as there's so much to do in the area that the long weekend felt like a week. It's ideally placed just a mile from Porthmadog so every evening we would take the scenic walk along the hills, past the marina where there are pubs and restaurants galore to explore. Whilst during the day North Wales is your oyster - there are Snowdonia hikes a plenty, a stunning sandy beach is just a short walk away and Portmeirion is next door, it's the perfect base to explore whether you're with a large group or a family - just make sure you take some time to sit back and enjoy those stunning vistas. Thank you so much Jane, we will be back soon!!

Tranquil and smart with sea views
It’s my second visit to the house, both of which I have really enjoyed. The area is amazing, very tranquil, lush and smart looking. The bay always seems to be filled with Oyster Catchers ‘peeping’ away, the place reminds me of child hood trips to the sea side, simple pleasures and lots of fresh area. It really helps that there is no through traffic which keeps things really quite. The house is fantastic with lots of room and space for groups to gather or just sit and look out of the big windows. The house works really with both big groups or a small family, the rooms are cosy and large but not so large that you feel lost. The first floor bedrooms are great, especially in the morning if it’s sunny, the big windows have big bay views, so very sunny….. It is definitely been one of my favourite places to stay in North Wales as it’s so quiet even with the kids. The house is off the road and up a short hill, which adds to the charm. The local walks are incredibly varied, from short beach strolls, woodland and coastal paths. I can switch off there in minutes. I think I need to book another trip. Pubs in Porthmadog are good too, especially the beer at The Ship, 15 minute walk away.

About the neighbourhood
Bryn Gwyn and Tegfryn are ideally situated in the picturesque coastal Victorian village of Borth-y-GestBorth-y-Gest is located to the east of the popular Llyn Peninsular and adjacent west of the Snowdonia National Park. This pretty unspoilt village has retained its Victorian charm with colourful terraced houses fronting onto a horseshoe-shaped promenade that skirts the perimeter of this sheltered bay where small boats are moored.Amenities in the village include a shop, tea room, petrol station and bistro restaurant all of which overlook the harbour. A short 15 minute walk along the coastal path to the east takes you to the popular tourist town of Porthmadog where there is a extensive range of cafes, shops and pubs.<The views from Borth-y-Gest are spectacular with a panorama sweeping across Tremadog Bay to the Rhinog Mountains to the south, and the Moelwyn Mountains to the east. The views also include the wooded peninsula of the Italian style village of Portmeirion, designed by the famous Welsh architect, Sir Clough William-Ellis in 1925. <Several beautiful beaches are within easy walking distance along the well maintained coastal path leading directly from the village centre. The sea is safe to swim on a low to incoming tide.<The sands at Borth-y-Gest are of particular interest to birdwatchers as they are home to a wide variety of species of birds including oystercatchers, redshanks and curlew, as well as winter visitors such as goldeneye, great crested grebe and wigeon. Summer brings flocks of sandwich terns. <Meanwhile the village is largely surrounded by woodland, much of it deciduous and dominated by ancient Welsh oaks. Directly to the rear of Bryn Gwyn and Tegfryn is Parc y Borth nature reserve. Parc y Borth woods is a local nature reserve long popular with walkers and ornithologists, and among the birdlife you might be lucky to spot green woodpeckers, tawny owls and pied flycatchers. An extensive network of paths will lead you from a public footpath running alongside Tegfryn through the woods to the top of a crag with extensive views of the Glaslyn and Dwyryd estuaries. <The road leading into Borth-y-Gest is a no-through road so that the roads are very quiet, being occupied by local traffic only.A 15 minute walk to the east will take you into the popular harbour town of Porthmadog where there is a large selection of shops and restaurants. A harbour town with an impressive marina is situated on the Glaslyn Estuary. Porthmadog is rich in maritime history and in times gone by, it was a vital, busy shipping port for the international slate trade, brought down from Blaenau Ffestiniog. Both the Welsh Highland Railway and Ffestiniog Railway can be boarded at Porthmadog. The stunning location of the Porthmadog golf club is only one mile from Bryn Gwyn and Tegfryn. The links golf course offers an intriguing mixture of heathlands and linksland for the discerning golfer.
