It offers divine trellised out door eating and gathering spots, for a gracious, summer outdoor lifestyle. For a fabulous Italian Beach holiday, Uliveto in Porto Ercole is it! If you are debating between a visit to Italy's historic cities and towns, like Rome, Florence and Siena, and taking a fabulous beach holiday with family or friends, here is the solution; you can have it all! An Italian Artist and her New York Art and Antiques Dealer husband took on the restoration of her family's historic, three-story 18th century farmhouse on a magnificent Olive Estate to create the perfect family vacation home, the results are splendid. The house has original beautifully polished, terracotta floors, high ceilings and beautiful proportions. The villa sleeps 11 in 5 bedrooms, now all air-conditioned, plus a bed-sitting room suitable for a child. In addition to the Master bedroom, all other bedrooms may be made up as a king bed or as two twin beds. There are three bathrooms all with tub/showers, plus a half bath. The kitchen has everything that you could wish for! Dishwasher, microwave, full stove and oven, and plenty of room to cook great family meals. There is a large living room with fireplace for fall and winter evenings, a charming sitting room, plus upstairs den. There is also a separate dining room with antique table. And as you might expect, antique furnishings abound through-out. This fashionable but incontestably comfortable restored 18 the century farm estate is a magical discovery for unforgettable vacations on one of Italy's most fashionable coastal resort town, Porto Ercole But this isn't just a beach town; Argentario's old castles, forts and Renaissance streets, speak with the voice of history that attracts us all to Italy. Porto Ercole, on Monte Argentario, a peninsula south of Grosseto in Tuscany, is full of Renaissance charm and history. Caravaggio, for instance, washed-up dead on Porto Ercole's shores 400 years ago. There are four historic forts which remind us of past wars and that the Spaniards held control in the 16th century, leaving their influence in the architecture and the people. Itt is also a stylish resort whose ports play host to fabulous yachts and the jet-setters who fill it today. You will enjoy strolling the charming and active harbours, dotted with excellent seaside restaurants, cafes, bars, and gelaterias, and the incredible beaches and shores. You can rent a motorboat, or you can take the ferry to the charming island of Giglio just off the coast, where you can swim on pristine beaches, have a delicious lunch and stroll more historic streets of this Castle-Fort Island. But your holiday doesn't stop here, because Porto Ercole is exquisitely located just over an hour to Siena and Arezzo, and less than 2 hours from Florence and Rome. When you have had enough sun and sea, just take a day trip to one of Tuscany's many treasures from your home away from home. This could be your holiday of a lifetime, or the place that you will decide to return to year after year. Added to the indoor comforts, are what one most desires in a Mediterranean Holiday, and that is comfortable outdoor living. Under a wisteria-covered pergola there is plenty of casual outdoor seating with upholstered cushions and pillows, and not one but two dining tables and chairs to seat 14. If you are not looking for shade, there is a well furnished terrace, too, surrounded by cyprus, lavender and rosemary and at the end of the garden, a refreshing pool. The house comes with 12 hours of maid service per week. A cook is possible on request. Additional amenities: Concierge, Full Kitchen, Game Room, Games, Media Library, Private Chef

Exactly what I was looking for..... a treasure of a house and property.
Villa Uliveto in Porto Ercole is an absolute gem..... we had a team event there (sailing regatta) and the house was perfect for us. We travel with a team chef, who loved the kitchen and found everything she needed at the grocery store/butcher/fishmonger locally. The housekeeper, Nina, is fantastic. Marianne, who oversees the house locally, was incredibly helpful and got back to me very quickly any time I had a question. We thoroughly enjoyed our team dinners every evening under the wisteria-covered pergola, and even named the 3 cats who have adopted the house and live outside. We did see groups of the wild boar who live up on the hillside, in the evenings, and found them fascinating to watch. If you are looking for a lovely, beautifully and tastefully decorated, well-equipped and very comfortable home to have a family-style holiday (ie not fancy or Four Seasons-ish), then Uliveto is for you. And for American visitors who appreciate ice, a drip coffee maker and a dryer, all are there. (Though do not use the washer and dryer at the same time - it draws too much power. Patience....or use the drying rack outside if it is nice day.) I cannot tell you about the TV or anything as we never turned anything like that on once. There is internet, and also a Bose speaker thing for an iPod or Nano, which we found more than adequate for music. Go to Porto Ercole. Stay at Uliveto. You will be happy you did.

Amazing place
We usually rent houses in the summer for two or three families. This is one of the most beautiful we have been in. Close to Porto Ercole and therefore close to all the beaches in the islands and to the ports, but surrounded by hills, the house is absolutely amazing. If you want to live in an Italian villa, with a lot of family flavor, this is the place to go. It has many different places to sit and read, a pool that is not too close to the house, and lots of spaces covered with a pergola and its cool shadow. The kitchen is big but the barbeque area is bigger still so the option of cooking outside in the summer is always better, Wild boars visit the place at night. Doesn´t get better than this.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.I am so happy that you enjoyed your time. The owners, who care greatly about this historic family property , take pride in constantly improving it, but of course the idyllic country setting, and the beautiful sea, add its own charms. Thank you again.

Dear Alexey, I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Of course bikes are great on the island, and we are always happy to organize rentals as we did for you. We also recommend a car. There is so much to see and do in the area that it would be a shame to miss.

A true taste of Tuscany by the sea
A perfect place to call home in a classic Tuscan setting of Olive Trees. Ideal for a family reunion as 8 to 10 adults can have a comfortable time. Half way between Rome and Florence.
