We have stayed in a few of the cottages at Vulcan lodge and they are all beautiful , comfortable and very well equipped . I would not hesitate to recommend.

All that was needed for the stay was there. Fantastic space for all family members to join us in The Middleton. Only reason for not returning is that we love to visit new places. Many thanks

About the neighbourhood
Rhayader is a vibrant town with much to offer the visitor. With its Leisure Centre, Elan Valley Visitor Centre, Museum, Community Arts Centre (CARAD), Willow Globe open air Shakespeare theatre, Red Kite Centre and Mountain Bike Centre, it is rich in culture and interest. Each year there are a number of local agricultural shows in the surrounding villages and Rhayader itself has a Grand Carnival week with events occurring on a nightly basis over a 10 day period. There is a programme of events at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre throughout the year and the Leisure Centre offers school holiday activities for children. There is a children's playbarn 3 miles from the cottage.

Vulcan Lodge - The Middleton is located in the middle of Wales. It is 2.5 hrs from Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham airports and 4 hrs from Heathrow. The nearest railway station is 9 miles away in Llandrindod Wells. It is 32 miles from Hay-on-Wye.

The Middleton is 3 miles south of Rhayader and is easily accessed off a slip road from the A470. The picture of the Lodge shows a green with a gate leading across the slip road to the building. There is intermittent traffic during the day but the road is very quiet after 6.00 pm. The river Wye runs at the back of the Lodge and is a very short walk away.
