Holiday Rental House
Westham Farmhouse has stood facing out across the Somerset Levels for many centuries, almost blending into the landscape. You will find an array of original historic features that tell a story of hundreds of years of farming activity. At the centre of the house is a large and comfortable farmhouse kitchen with solid fuel Rayburn - good for large family gatherings or reunions. The house and garden is ideal for families - we welcome children and pets. Sleeps 8+1 baby (2 double rooms, 1 twin room, 2 single rooms, plus cot). The house is set in more than 50 acres of its own fields and orchards, adjoining a larger dairy farm - the opportunities for cycling, walking, birding or exploring the local area are boundless. Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury (8 miles), Wells (10 miles) and the coast (Burnham on Sea - 8 miles) are all within a 20-30 minute drive, while Bath and Bristol are within 45 minutes distance. The large lawn is perfect for children, or for quiet contemplation. In front of you are views across our own fields (part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest), on the right hand side is a range of very old pig sties, and on the left you can see the stone barns of the old farmyard. There is a large patio for barbecues, and a kitchen garden. A footpath adjoins the property and takes you up to the top of the farm for spectacular views of the Mendips, Quantocks, Poldens and Glastonbury Tor before dropping down through the maize fields to Hozzard Brook and then on to the local pub, the Sexey's Arms in Blackford. Please note that at the current time we do not provide bed linen or towels.More

About the neighbourhood
Blackford (local pub - the Sexeys Arms) is 1 mile away. Wedmore (shops and pubs) is 3 miles distant. Mark is 2.5 miles distant (local shop, pubs). The historic towns of Axbridge (6 miles), Glastonbury (8 miles), Wells (10 miles) are close by. Bath and Bristol are within 45 minutes by car. Cheddar Gorge (6 miles), Wookey Hole (8 miles), Ebbor Gorge (8 miles), and Athelney (12 miles) are a few examples of the really diverse local attractions. Finally, on the doorstep, are the Somerset Levels.
Getting around
There is a bus service passing through Blackford (20 mins walk to bus stop) which travels between Burnham on Sea and Wells, but it is not frequent. There are plenty of enjoyable quiet cycle routes across the levels, or even up through Cheddar Gorge (6 miles distant) if you're very energetic!
