The local area includes the beautiful Thetford Forest, with many options for walkers and cyclists, and several important bird-watching reserves are also a short drive away.

On a positive note, the cottage is quite charming and set in a quaint location. I feel that the cottage could use a little love and deep cleaning. Our main vice originally was the owner's control over the central heating, we stayed over Christmas time...More

The central heating is on a timer to go off at 10.30 at night, and on again at 6.30 in the morning, which is sufficient for most guests. I did respond to your request to put the heating on for 24 hours a day, which...More

Local activities:
Walking and cycling in Thetford Forest, with marked walking and cycling trails, children's play areas, cafe, toilets and small shops with maps etc available to buy. High Lodge has bike hire and the Go Ape assault course.

Bird watching - Lakenheath Fen, with a visitors centre is only a couple of miles away. A wetland that is home to marsh harriers, hobbies, reed and sedge warblers nest, as well as breeding golden orioles and cranes.
Weeting Heath is one of the best places to see stone curlews, open from April to September.
Welney Wildfowl and Wetland Trust. Year round activities, including dawn viewing of thousands of migrating swans in winter. Also an hour away from several reserves on the North Norfolk Coast.
