Holiday Rental House
On the charming peninsula of St Jacut de la Mer (800 inhabitants in winter), an ancient fishing community between Dinard (10 miles) and St Cast le Guildo (5 miles), this picturesque stone-built family house dating from the end of the XIXth century, renovated in 2017 sits on the seashore with beautiful views on the Arguenon bay and St Cast le Guildo accross. There is direct access to the seafront path and the beach (no road to cross) through the beautiful, mature garden, safe for children as it is completely enclosed. The garden allows eating outside (barbecue) and private suntanning. The house, accessed to by a flight of stairs, comprises an open (quite small) kitchen, a living/dining room, a reading room in mezzanine with expansive views over the sea, and a garden-level, larger lounge. ...On the charming peninsula of St Jacut de la Mer (800 inhabitants in winter), an ancient fishing community between Dinard (10 miles) and St Cast le Guildo (5 miles), this picturesque stone-built family house dating from the end of the XIXth century, renovated in 2017 sits on the seashore with beautiful views on the Arguenon bay and St Cast le Guildo accross. The house, accessed to by a flight of stairs, comprises an open (quite small) kitchen, a living/dining room, a reading room in mezzanine with expansive views over the sea, and a garden-level, larger lounge. Apart from the kitchen, the downstairs bedroom and the garden-level sitting room which have stone or tiles, all the house is fitted with traditional wooden floors. It is simply, but comfortably furnished to meet your needs on holiday. It is ideal for one to four couples with two to four children in the rooms upstairs, and why not the grand-parents or the couple with the baby in the room downstairs. The house will not be comfortable for larger adult groups because the dining table will not sit more than ten guests at a time. We always have children eating first. There are six sleeping rooms (4 with direct seaview) : downstairs 1 double-bed (160/200 cm), possibility of a folding baby cot) with its own shower room ; 2 double-beds (140/200 and 140x190) and 1 bunk bed (2x90/200) sharing a bathroom on the 1st floor ; one very small though lovely double room with a double bed (140/190 cm) and one large room with one double bed (160 x 200) which can be separated in two single (80 x 200) and two single beds (90/190) on the 2d floor. Bed- and toilet linen not furnished, they are available for the price of professional cleaning (19 euros per double bed, 14,50 per single bed, 10 euros per person for a set of toilets linen, but we prefer you to bring your own really) There are two comfortable sofas in the living room, and armchairs in the garden lounge and in the mezzanine library (please no access allowed to children under 11) There are electric heaters in each room which can be set separately according to your needs. The washing machine and dryer are in the vast, tiled cellar. The wine cellar is unfortunately empty but ideal to stock your own, should you meet some good deals to take home. Outdoor table tennis in the garden. The house sits in the residential, lower part of the main street, 5mn walking distance from all amenities offered by the village (restaurants and cafés, gifts, beach and speciality shop, food store, newsagent...) There are 11 beaches in St Jacut, all at (various) walking distance from the house. There is a local, very active sailing club for adults and children, and St Jacut is a famous spot for the practice of sandsailing and kitesurfing (teaching available). There is good fishing in the area, and also on-foot fishing (seafood and shells) as the sea withdraw quite far at low tide. Tennis, horseriding, golf course within 5 to 15 mn drive. Last but not least, there is an excellent Michelin restaurant within a 12 mn drive from the house. Absolutely no pets (wooden floors, allergies). More

Interaction with guests
It's a family home so a member of the family, most likely Mum, will welcome you on your day of arrival and will give you all the information you might need about the area. I can lend you a canoe and a stand-up paddle, and some (old) bikes including a tandem bike (really nice experience). I love chatting to my guests.

About the neighbourhood
Saint-Jacut is a charming peninsula between two bays, and its peculiar position added to a tide flow that goes very far in and out gives it a added charm : on sunny days, the sea is warmer than elsewhere on the coast because the water has come back on the heated sand.... The village has a traditionnal feel, with several very french cafés, and restaurants. There are walks around the peninsula, high up the cliff or down on the beach at low tide (around 2 hours to walk around the peninsula), there is also an ancient norman castle at walking distance from the village, and a couple of seals to be observed nearby. On the peninsula, there are many nautical sports to be practiced, you name it.. and kitesurfing is a must if you like sensation. Then in the surrounding Côtes dArmor, you will find ple...
Getting around
You can spend a lovely beach and walk holiday ignoring the roads and do it all by foot as there are lots of marked long-, medium- and short-range footpaths. Occasionnally you might use the bus service (not very frequent unfortunately). If you want to enjoy the area and see the many touristic sights, it's better to have a car !
