A special place for a holiday for two people. January House in Culross is situated in a most desirable location in this historic town. An imposing 19th century house, built in 1805 and retaining the ambiance of that era, it offers guests the comforts expected of 21st century living. Iin close proximity to Culross Palace, it enjoys interesting views over the central features of the picturesque town. The view from the side overlooks the Firth of Forth, on which large and small vessels making passage can be watched. Upstairs the combined sitting / dining / kitchen area is provided with all of the features needed for an enjoyable stay. Upstairs there is also a separate TV / Reading Room and a family bathroom (bath,shower & toilet). It can be offered with a King Sized double bed or alternatively with two single beds. ACCESSIBILITY . There is one step into the front door of the property and three steps to the back door. The bedroom with en-suite is on the ground floor but all other rooms are on the upper floor which is reached by means of a traditional staircase. This unfortunately makes the property unsuitable for anyone who has difficulty negotiating stairs. A picture of the staircase is given here. More

Interaction with guests
When possible we will meet our guests and familiarise them with the features of January House. We enjoy doing so. When we can't meet in person we will check by 'phone that they are comfortably settled in for their holiday. There are instructions in the house for using all of the equipment and facilities provided. Information on some of the main attractions of the area and public transport information is provided. Should any guest need additional help we welcome them calling us.

About the neighbourhood
Culross is on the 177 mile long Fife Coastal Path, which offers good opportunity for walking and cycling. Eating out offers the choice of Bessie's Cafe next to the Palace, the Admiral Cafe next to the Market Cross, the Biscuit Cafe above Culross Pottery and the Red Lion Inn (reservation advised) on Low Causeway. All are within three to five minutes walk from January House. Grocery shopping is available in Kincardine only ten minutes by car. Culross is particularly well situated for day visits to Scotland's major cities, the many attractions of Fife, Kinross & Perth. Stirlingshire the Lothians and much more.
Getting around
January House is very well situated for day trips to Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, Glasgow and of course the whole of Fife, including St.Andrews. Travel to most of those locations including Edinburgh is facilitated by good Public Transport connections, from Dunfermline, Halbeath Park,& Ride, Ferry Toll Park & Ride and Kincardine Park & Ride. Local bus connections are available to Dunfermline,Kincardine,Alloa & Falkirk for onward travel. Bus stops for those destinations are within 50 yards of the house.
