As beautiful as it looks in the photos
I cant give this review anything less than 4 stars based on the views and the stunning views of which is as beautiful as the pictures is not more! I have to say on first arrival we were a little disappointed as had imagined the cottage to be on its own (and not having to worry about the dogs bothering anyone else) but the cottage is next to the owners hours on the drive, but I have to say the owners were very friendly and kept themselves to themselves. The cottage is beautiful, you really cannot fault it with its rustic charm and is clearly maintained to a very high standard. The owners leave some lovely little touches like tea's, biscuits and dog treats and even include some dog towels and blankets. We were little disappointed as had seen photos, when originally booking of a bath (and looked forward to using some bath luxury's) but found that it must have been updated recently, with has to be said, a very modern and good quality walk in shower. Around the lake you are not supposed to walk your dog off the lead and bear in mind the lake can be reached at the end of the drive, but it is across a (quiet) public road so you dog would have to be kept on the lead majority of the time. There is a truly lovely private 'beach' at the end of the drive which is accessed through a locked gate which is ideal to let your dogs off on and would imagine this would be really lovely in the summer. This is the first time we have rented a cottage, we were surprised that you have to take meter readings and pay for the electric you use. I'm not sure if this is normal, but was slightly surprised to find the additional cost on top of the price paid for the week. It cost us around £25 for the week, we didn't use the electric heaters, only relaying on the beautiful open fire, but we did spend majority of the time in the cottage. The owners leave a complimentary basket of logs and bucket of coal, and you can buy a bag of coal from the owners at £9 a bag, we found the logs worked out cheaper from the nearest spar, and through our stay used around 4 bags of coal and 12 small bags of logs, to keep the cottage warm throughout the week. I would still recommend this cottage to a friend, as the cottage is truly lovely, the views are stunning. With regards to directions, we did get little lost as must have came from a different direction to the instructions provided, so we found the best way is to simply Google the fairy falls pub which is directly opposite the small country round that leads to the cottage.

Deepest Wales, beautiful scenes and post card view
We have just returned from a beautiful 3 night and had a most restful stay. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The owners have thought of everything including entertainment, TV, Videos, Cds, board games, comfortable beds and cosy lounge. The views are stunning with lovely walks on your doorstep. We enjoyed the Fairy Falls pub with excellent food and they welcome children and dogs and provide a free doggy Sunday lunch when you purchase your own. Our dog had unlimited access around the property and fun and games with the owners dogs. We would certainly return. I would recommend the owners interact more with their guests, but I guess this is a fine line between being in the way and not showing any interest

Magical......
Having just returned from our stay at Ochr Y Foel all we can say is Magical! The cottage itself is well presented, clean, smart and cosy and my wife LOVED the princess bed, very comfortable.. Although the weather was warm during our stay we couldnt resist lighting a nice log fire and cuddling up on the couch to a film with a glass of wine in the evenings once the sun went down. The views are breathtaking and you can't beat waking up in the morning and having breakfast sat overlooking the lake. Our son loved the added bonus of being able to setup camp by the lakeside which made the setting that bit more romantic for us to enjoy the cosyness of the cottage. All in all we enjoyed our time at Ochr Y Foel very much, the hosts Chris and Merv were very helpfull and greeted us on our arrival, as did their two adorable dogs Toby and Ickabod.

Mr
The cottage is in a special location. Secluded and in its own ground, the views over the lake are wonderful. Walks from the door if you choose. If not spend time inside with a warm log fire watching DVDs or reading. The cottage has everything you will need. We took our springer spaniel who had a great time in the grounds with the owners 2 friendly dogs.

Another lovely Summer week spent at this lovely cottage near the stunning Llyn Crafnant. Log fires, comfy, clean and charming accommodation. Some nights we stayed in ( Ochr y Foel is well equipped with all you need) but also some cracking places to eat in near by villages. Fabulous walks and scenery on the doorstep and we walked out dogs on some stunning beaches. It was a lucky day when we found this idyllic place, Ochr y Foel, hope to be back soon!

Stunning, magical little Gem
We have stayed here many times, and every time I wish I had booked longer. Stunning spot, that cannot be described without you seeing it yourself. Our family couldn't believe what a Gem we had found when we first stayed here. It's like a home from home, where you are left alone but also looked after by the owners ( who live next door) and nothing is too much trouble. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, I cannot rate this cottage enough! It's like a second home to us and our daughter adores the owners dogs and will play all day with them if she could! Fantastic cottage with more than enough for what you need. Fantastic service if you decide to take your furry pet, where you can leave them with the owners and their dogs to play all day by the lake enjoying the fresh air and space . Have never encountered any problems at all here, and we re-visit every year as its too good to miss! Thank you for all our lovely stays and we will see you next year!!!!!!

A little piece of Heaven....
Upon arrival at the property we were greeted and shown around by the owners, a very nice couple who seemed intent on ensuring our stay was a memorable one. Views are breathtaking with a plethora of nature walks in the surrounding forestry.....DEFINITELY be back next year!

Thank you for your feedback. Further to our email correspondence, we would like to reiterate how sorry we are that Ochr y Foel did not meet your expectations. As discussed, we have been letting the cottage for several years and during that time it has always proved to be a popular property with good reviews from guests, some of which can be viewed on our website. The cottage owner was incredibly upset that you were not entirely happy there as she strives to ensure guests enjoy their stay. However, we are glad that you enjoyed the location. You’re quite right, it is superb and one of the best we offer in Wales.
