Large kitchen, living, dining area and a lovely snug room with book case, board games and tv. Lovely Manorbier beach, a golden sandy cove with great rock pools, popular with both families and surfers, 2 minutes or less on foot. Look out of the kitchen or bedrooms onto the majestic C11th Norman Castle. Shute Cottage was shortlisted for a National Award in Design and Architecture for the renovation and expansion work within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The original dwelling probably dates back to Norman times with a rare stone vaulted ceiling and later addition of a round Flemish chimney. The link from the cottage to the light and spacious extension was built in 2003. More

Was great to meet the Wagstaff family and very grateful for their lovely review also for their patience over the muddle up on the arrival. Glad that all was well in the end :)

About the neighbourhood
Manorbier is a lovely seaside village with a superb sandy cove popular with surfers and a fine medieval castle overlooking the bay. The birthplace of Gerald of Wales (Giraldus Cambrensis) and a favourite haunt of George Bernard Shaw and Virginia Woolf. The village has a cosy pub and an interesting Norman Church, also a tea rooms and shop. Manorbier was designated as a conservation area by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in 1997. Walking the Coast Path is good in either direction. Heading west, you pass the remote Swanlake Bay and Freshwater East then on to Stackpole Quay and Barafundle. Manorbier Castle has a stunning location perched above the beach.
Getting around
Directions: from the centre Manorbier head out towards the castle and beach. Look out for left turn to ‘St James’ Church’ (before the beach carpark sign). Approx 100m white cottage at foot of the hill on left, pull into drive through wooden gates. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is literally 25m out of the drive, access to the whole coastal area. Tenby is 10 minutes or 4 miles by car. Approx 5 on coast path. Manorbier is connected by the 349 bus service to Haverfordwest and Tenby both of which have a railway station. The coastal bus links to other parts of the coast path which is great for walkers. Pembroke is 5 miles west.
