Holiday Rental House -
5 Bedrooms , 4 Bathrooms , Sleeps 10
Ventnor, Isle of Wight, England
Bermuda House is the ideal base for a family holiday on the island or for somewhere to get the family together, say for a special birthday celebration. There is a wide range of places to eat and drink within 10 minutes walk.

The property has been fully refurbished and sleeps ten in five generously sized bedrooms (two doubles, a triple, a twin and a single). Additionally there is a double sofabed in one of the living rooms for occasional use by arrangement. All of the bedrooms have nice views, either of the coast or of the downs which rise attractively behind the town.

Bermuda House has high ceilings with chandeliers, fine cornicing and ceiling roses and a lovely carved staircase. New oak flooring has been fitted and the house is decorated and furnished in a contemporary but sympathetic style. There are two ground floor living rooms...

About the neighbourhood
Ventnor is a charming Victorian town noted for its sunny summers and mild winters. It is built on the sheltered undercliff on the south of the Isle of Wight and is dominated by the highest point on the island, St Boniface Down, immediately behind the town. Sir James Clark, Queen Victoria's doctor, endorsed the health-giving properties of Ventnor's climate: 'nothing along the south coast will bear comparison with it'. Ventnor was recently described in The Times as 'the epicentre of the new Wight'.

In recent years Ventnor has become a centre for good food with many fine restaurants within minutes' walk of the Bermuda House. This in addition to other places to eat such as seafront pubs, an authentic Spanish tapas bar and a smart seafront wine bar.

Railway: Shanklin: 5.0 km
Ferry: Ryde: 10.0 km
Ferries cross to the Island from Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington. Foot passenger ferry journey time is about 20 minutes, while it can take as little as 35 minutes to cross with a car. Hovercraft go between Southsea and Ryde with a journey time of around 10 minutes.

The house is a 30-40 minutes drive across the island from any of the car ferry ports. The owner is able to quote inclusive rates for the house and car ferry travel which, in peak season, will be considerable cheaper than buying the ferry crossing separately.

Foot passengers are advised to arrive at Ryde and take either the number 3 bus or train to Shanklin and the number 3 bus which go to within 200m of the house. Train passengers should travel to Portsmouth Harbour and take the catamaran and either the number 3 bus or...
