Guests must be able to climb stairs (2nd floor flat - no elevator). No parties. The flat is in a very peaceful block and is entered via a communal stair. We would ask guests to respect the other residents and keep noise levels down especially early in the morning and late at night.

Interaction with guests:Â At the moment we do not have a keysafe system in place so I do meet any visitors to show them the flat and give them any information they want or need. After that I am always available but if visitors prefer to be left alone I am happy to do that also.
Perfect location, even if not perfect weather 😊
This lovely flat is in the harbour area of Dunbar. You have a view of the harbour from the comfort of the living room, and if the weather permits there’s a small balcony. Restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance. Parking is free and when we were there was easy, right outside the flat. There’s a dedicated space in front of their garage but it’s a bit tight so we chose to park just opposite. It feels much more like a home than a holiday let with lovely paintings, pottery and nautical themed things. Great quality binoculars by the window!
There is everything you will ever need to stay comfortably there. A very well equipped kitchen and Susie has provided everything you would need if you chose to cook. We ate breakfast but ate dinner in 5 different local restaurants during our stay..I researched all for gluten free options in advance. Nice to have tea coffee and milk on arrival and lots of bits and pieces like spices etc left by previous guests I presume.
Heating is effective and easily boosted outwith central heating schedules. Great bathroom heated towel rail. Electric shower over bath, is as most electric showers are, a bit feeble but it’s hot and does the job. Lovely toiletries provided.
Lovely walks in the area and public transport links beyond the town by bus and train should you wish. Would recommend the John Muir birthplace museum, and fascinating exhibition. Good to see the donations box at the door looking healthy as folks realised how fortunate we are to have free entry to these places.
Would definitely hope to return to .Dunbar, and to this lovely Harbour Masters Flat. Thanks Susie for being such a friendly and communicative host.

High quality, conveniently located apartment.
The flat is impeccably presented and is furnished to a high standard. The owners provide good quality crockery, cutlery, bedding, towels etc. They have also put a lot of thought into providing all the extras that make a stay hassle free and enjoyable. The flat is in a peaceful location a few yards from the harbour and an easy walk to shops and restaurants. A bonus was the convenient assigned parking right outside. Susie is a great host who communicates regularly and who made some helpful suggestions for activities eating etc and who met us on arrival. We booked this flat on a fixed date no refund deal last Autumn. Susie not only honoured the booking when lockdown prevented us travelling, but changed the date twice as rules changed, finally offering us a very acceptable summer rental. This property and host are a model of what outstanding self catering accommodation should be like. Somewhere we will definitely visit again.

Very comfortable and warm, in a lovely location with harbour view.
Seated in a large window we had a lovely view of one of the harbours and the rollers coming in. The apartment is situated only three minutes off the High Street with cafes and shops available, even during Covid restrictions.
The apartment itself is spacious and well-equipped and the heating is very effective (very important at the end of October!). Everything worked well, the TV was excellent, and everything was clean on arrival.
The owner responded to any queries by email or text promptly and could not have been more helpful. In fact, everyone we met in the area during our stay was friendly and helpful.

A very comfortable apartment
What a find! Sea views even when the tide was out. Perfectly placed for discovering Dunbar and the surrounding coastline. There is everything you could need in the apartment with a generous sized living area, kitchen, bathroom, main bedroom and 2nd bedroom and the whole apartment has a nice seaside theme. Parking is easy and it is only a 5 minute walk uphill to the High Street and main shopping area. There is an Asda approx 5 mins drive away.
Our host, Suzie, was very welcoming and was kind enough to leave some butter, scones, jam and milk to get us started. We would love to come back - maybe one day?

Lovely flat in quiet seaside town
Very comfortable flat near to Dunbar Harbour. Perfect for a couple or small family. Convenient for a visit to Edinburgh or to explore surrounding countryside and coast. Good local restaurants and in particular pub around the corner which was both friendly and served great food.

Excellent Accommodation
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent week staying at the Old Harbour Master's Flat. We were very comfortable, and the house was beautifully equipped. It was in a lovely position in Dunbar, handy for shops. The owner, Susie, was exceptionally helpful. The property is in a very quiet location, and we found the whole experience very relaxing.

The Old Harbour Masters Flat, Dunbar
I recently had the pleasure of staying in The Old Harbour Masters Flat. It is a light and welcoming place, all the amenities are top notch. There are added bonuses of a lovely balcony for your morning cuppa, a lovely desk to work at and fully equipped kitchen, so no need to venture out. However, if you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. A variety of interesting shops and eateries right on your doorstep. This was a great place to stay and my host Susie was charming. The beautiful city of Edinburgh is only 20 mins away on the train. All in all a great little find.

About the neighbourhood
Dunbar is a vibrant seaside town in East Lothian. On East Lothian's Golf Coast, it boasts two golf courses, Winterfield and Dunbar which is an Open Championship Qualifying Course.
It also has a surf school who give surf lessons and paddle board sessions, a excellent leisure pool, tennis courts, Foxlake Adventures which is one of the UK's largest wakeboarding centres and also has a zip wire. There is also the East Links Family Park with its mix of farm and more exotic animals, a railway and many other activities.
Surrounded by great beaches, wonderful walks and rolling countryside it is a great place to visit.
It has a good selection of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and some great shops.
Getting around
Dunbar is a 20 minute train journey to Edinburgh.
There are also frequent buses to other parts of East Lothian, Edinburgh and North Northumberland.
A car is not essential but can make it easy for visitors to see a great deal of the East coast of Scotland.
