However, there is also an understanding that modernity must play its part in making a family holiday to remember and therefore, wireless broad-band, high-definition television with surround sound and a fantastic multi-room music system (do bring your music on an iPod/iPhone!) are also a given.

Grantown on Spey as its name suggests, sits on the banks of one of the world’s finest Salmon Rivers. It is also the Capital of Strathspey and a key town within the recently formed Cairngorm National Park. Within a few minutes stroll from Holmhill there are forest walks, river walks, cycle tracks, a golf course, Salmon and Trout fishing, bird and wildlife watching and much, much more.

Grantown on Spey is a perfect base for exploring the Highlands with wintersports in the Cairngorm mountains, Loch Ness and the World Famous ‘Malt Whisky Trail’ only a short drive away.
